Glad its done , im never ever short of a job or lonely or bored , I come indoors at 5 o clock after being outside since about 10 o clock.....I had a shower and had a quick meal for tea , and im !!!!!!ed now , I shall crease the sheets just after " Gardeners World "at 9..............Knackered...
My garden is looking quite nice now , everything is blooming growing lovely , birds are singing and nesting , beautiful time of year.......Its suppose to be quite cold tonight but at least we are getting nice sunny days and its not cold...I havent read the back posts yet but I will tomorrow, im struggling to keep my eyes open right now ........

chickens11 Put me to shame:obut I do what I can:)and I can say things are looking up on the home front. Its the garden next for me. I have planted up tubs and have a hanging basket to do.
Candlelight You're right, there'll be niggles but I'm more me and every day/month is another part of the journey.
And I'm one of many. Well TBH we all have to make that journey. X
I'll miss the music event on Monday but around the next Bank Holiday(I think)Redcar which is slightly nearer than Saltburn are having one of those events where they make sculptures in the sand on the beach across a weekend(and music too)so perhaps I'll try and get along to that?
Got a Ceilidh to go to in around a fortnight(can't dance:()but I do know who is appearing and they're good. Going with Andrea who sometimes pops in here and elderly man we both know. Morning fencers. I've been MIA due to extra busy paid stuff so haven't read back further than this page.
Sheila - you've been so busy
Pops - plans sound good
Burtha - enjoy the wedding
So almost three days off work (I have some stuff to catch up on over the weekend) and I have dry day and wet day plans.
Dry - just get out walking the dogs and pottering in the garden
Wet - check finances, actually clean the house, catch up on paid stuff
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Would be nice to have a dog to take for a walk. I used to take other peoples but I don't know anyone with a dog here. I don't think I would actually like to spend the weekend doing housework I have plenty of time in the week.
I did plenty of dusting and washing paintwork while waiting for the meter reader that was supposed to come on Thursday but the bu88er did not come. Npower wrote and told me he had not been, as if I did not know? No apology. I am Bl**dy sick of them. They are now claiming I have used over 40,000 more units not 30,000. I know I have used much less than 1,000 units in 13 months.
Sorry about that it makes you swear. Apparently I have to have some sort of certificate from Npower agreeing they cannot reach agreement with me but they will not do that. How long am I expected to put up with this?0 -
Re taking a dog for a walk Nurse Maggie - could you put up a postcard in the post office window/generally ask around and I'm sure there would be people with a dog/dogs that are hard-pressed for time and/or too ill to be able to walk their dogs as much as they would like to do themselves.
I would imagine there would be people glad of a helping hand with that - win/win = their dog gets walked and you get a dog to walk.
I've just been staying with a friend and she struggled to find time to walk her dogs sometimes, despite the fact she has now gone from full-time to part-time work.
You could phrase it maybe as "Can I be a foster-mummy to your dog? Love walking dogs - but haven't got one of my own..."0 -
Maggie Some of the newspapers, e.g. the Independent on a Saturday, have a person who will take up the cudgels against big companies on behalf of people who have been trying to sort out a disagreement but getting nowhere and are at their wits' end. Might be worth a try?
I think the Express and Guardian have the same sort of thing.0 -

Was thinking exactly the same thing - I know the Mail on Sunday also take it up or even the local paper?? Often the big papers take up stories from the locals and the little man fighting is always a good story and maybe Npower would put a bit more focus on it!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Morning all,
Thirzah, it is remarkable how far a few basic neutrals can get you, isn't it? Your DD sounds very sensible.
Floss, thanks for the tip I'll bear it in mind today while we're looking.
NurseMaggie If you aren't getting results from NPower's complaints then you can approach the energy Ombudsman http://www.ombudsman-services.org/energy.html
They usually won't do anything until you have exhausted the complaints with the company, but once you have they can do things like set deadlines for the company to do things (i.e. read your meter) mediate etc. I had a friend who used them awhile ago and they were very positive about the service although annoyed it had come to that. I don't think it is a pleasant process.
Our plans for the weekend include the great smart clothes hunt, the thrilling task of cleaning and disinfecting Maggie's litter tray and the usual meal plan and weekly shop. I tidied most of the house yesterday, although I didn't get around to the floors and will still need to change sheets. OH is preparing for a few things at work on Monday and I'll be revising. I'll be encouraging OH to take it easy. He has woken up with an awful headache this morning and still sounds terrible. I haven't mentioned the big D word yet, but if he hasn't improve by next week I'll be marching him down to the surgery to make sure it hasn't settled in his chest. He has never had a chest infection before, but I've had enough to be suspicious.
I've brought him a nice breakfast and a paper in bed but he has turned the lights back off hoping some pain relievers will take care of the headache. I've packed the lunch for today, but if he doesn't improve I may have to insist we hit the shops another day as it is forecast to rain all day and I don't think wandering round the shops in the rain will be ideal. He spent all day yesterday herding lower school boys around a castle, so it is no wonder he is feeling it today.0
