Just to add balance, I hope you have also learned your lessons from this... you were almost as bad as he was and all this "I was away... girlfriend had to have it" rubbish counts for nothing...... It could just as well have been an MSE'r selling a '54 car registered in 2005...
Although that said the seller was obviously an idiot and got what he deserved.

Hi,
Thanks for your post however claiming that the truth counts for nothing is a tad harsh, sure its an excuse but regardless it is the truth.
You seem to have missed the point in your claim that it could have been a fellow MSE'r selling a 54 car reg in 2005, because the scenario was the other way round, therefore the chap was incorrectly advertising an item.
I can ill afford to lose £4000 on a deal however if I had not followed the correct ebay protocol then I would have had to face the consequences and pay up, however I made every attempt to cancel the bid quite some time before the end of the auction, previous to that I had'nt even been the highest bidder and the sudden withdrawal of the previous highest bidders amount was a tad suspicious to say the least, also the chap claiming he could not answer my query due to his office being from lunch time on a working day and yet having the ability to email me at gone midnight to chase the money was also suspicious.
Have I learnt from this situ, hell yeah I have the 1st lesson is never ever take mrs phatbears word for it that she has read all the details on an advert, and secondly never let her know my log in.
Again my thanks goes out to all the posters for their input, and I hope that I can return the favour some day.

It's people like you that are driving sellers away from ebay...The money, Dave...0 -
hahahaaa i love all this.
Some may read into these posts as revenge style tactics or sour grapes - but NO, i think ebay sellers like this need to learn a lesson, that they cant go round ripping us off.
It's just typical MSE form, innit, do something !!!!less, and then blame the trader who has done nothing wrong.

Get your facts right, yup I messed up but in doing so it exposed this fella for what he really is, as far as driving sellers away from ebay surely its not a bad thing if the sellers lie and try and circumvent the ebay system, after all if he was'nt doing anything wrong he wouldnt be reportable.

The flaw with your argument is of course that if he wasn't breaking the rules and likely to cause more problems for less experienced buyers, there would be nothing to report him for and it would have all just gone away.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. O dear, we've had such a nice couple of weeks without the troll. It was so refreshing to have balanced discussions without wind up posts being thrown into the pot.

Sarah-Jane wrote: »I do understand the word previous. As he is clearly not the owner of this car from new, he just trades in them, then it does have at least one previous owner. He did not purchase the car from new, he has got it from somebody, maybe as a trade-in or at an auction. Therefore as he did not buy the car from the garage and drive it the 90,000 miles himself over the however many years old it is, it has a previous owner. If I was to list my car as a private seller, and i'd bought it from a forecourt 2 years ago, then yes that could be no previous owners. But if I went to my local paper, bought a car with no previous owners and put it on eBay, the car would have a previous owner, and I (or in the case of this listing the man selling) would be the second owner. He is clearly a trader for cars, and any other random crap he can find, so the car he listed did have a previous owner - whoever he obtained the car from.
as someone has suggested, he's only purchased it to sell on, not used it personally, and chances are he hasn't registered it to his name so that an extra owner is added to the log book, so in that case he is right to state no previous owners.
technically you are right, and i see your argument, but in this case if the above scenario is correct and chances are it is, then he can describe the vehicle as no previous owners.
its what all car dealers do, and its not against the law, and one thing which he cannot be reported for!0 -

Mr Brooker,
Thank you again for your post, of course there is always two sides to every story and you are representing the minority regarding this incident, however your opinion is no less valuable than everyone elses.
However if you posts are derived from some form of anger or frustration may I suggest maybe helping yourself out if you know what I mean, ive heard it can work wonders on the stressed and just for those 15 secs you will have something else to think about.
