  • What is it like just out of interest?

Out of interest, is it only higher paid jobs you apply to?!

A call out of the blue on the 5th January, surprise surprise, landed me a nwm jobbie for a start next day - no experience needed, and all I was asked was do you think you can do it?!!? honestly, I am just like a half trained gimp! now struggling to get more serious work but that aside..

Would you one of the 'baby boomers' in work? I've been reading about the 3 types in reed's book so trying to understand :o

What?? Higher paid jobs? What made you ask that?

So you admit you have to look each day?

No an active job seeker would have a little look or check emails.

Of course after midnight counts. If I apply for jobs today from 9am to 2am its not two days it's one day even though the dates are going to be on the log on the sites like Reed or Monster etc when I applied but it's all about the time and effort each day not a cut off a midnight.

Like I said before when does a day start and end?

The end to me is when I say "ok that's it for today" not "its 12am I must stop"

I could be filling in an application form or writing a supporting statement to use I am not just going to stop

The only time I have a cut off is the night before I sign

I stop at 11pm and do my file and upload to dropbox - that's the only cut off I have - a 2 weekly one.

Anyway you do what you think is correct and others do differently
yes i am required to look each day. that is because they know i have access to the net.
a person without the net or a computer cant have a little look or check emails everyday.
if i look after lets say midnight tuesday that wont be counted by the website as tuesday. if i left it until after midnight according to the website i wont have done anything on tuesday. the activity would count as wednesday.

Supporting statements? Cover letters? Looking over questions to fill in on application forms? etc
having thought about this issue a bit more yeah you can allocate some jobseeking related activity to sunday if you wish. however after thinking about it i remembered that the jobcentre dont really care about all that. what they care about is the activity of looking and applying and you cant do that on a sunday without a computer and the net. that is why they dont require 7 days a week of anyone without the net at home. another reason why is sometimes you may not have any of those tasks you mention needing to be done when sunday comes around. therefore you couldnt have it down as requirement to do something on a sunday if the person doesnt have a computer or the net.

Barriers, barriers, barriers...Just keep putting up those barriers donnajunkie and I will pop back by in 6 months or so to see if you are still posting on here as you was well over a year ago.It is really quite clear to see why some people are unemployed and you don't have to work in a Jobcentre to see why. Unfortunately a small minority of people are beyond help!!
i am not responsible for anything within the post you quoted. if a job paper isnt published on a sunday thats not me putting up a barrier.

What about write a list or a plan for the week ahead? Only need a pen and a scrap of paper for that.

Do you search on Sundays now I know you have a laptop/pc?

Who told you the days job search is only counted up to midnight? LOL

Job searches and applications only up till you sign on are for the whole day you are up and awake. It's not Cinderella syndrome

    get.....up.....earlier.....
i already got up at 5am. you may think its reasonable to expect someone to get up earlier than that to ensure jobsearch for that day is done on that day but other people are more reasonable and would do what i did. which was a bit more the day before and the day after.
