    Money-Saving-King, if he catches you!

I wouldn't be surprised if people do that....When I worked for Tesco, there was a scam where people were buying bogof items then returning both of them for refunds. At that time, they didn't demand receipts.

They defiantly do, when i worked at Tesco, it happened alot. some will find descaded receipts, then go pick up all the items on it and try to get a refund.

Luckily alot of the time security spotted them doing it, and told us on the customer service counter.

We had about 100 photos of people who did it regularly so we could refuse refunds

can't people think for themselves anymore without resorting to posting on forums then have there badluck picked apart by people

You criticise people for being unable to think yet you can't tell the difference between "there" and "their"... Get your own house in order before getting at others.

"It's only proof that I bought such an item in the past, not the one I'm holding in my hands right now. What stops me from taking an old receipt to Lidl or Aldi, take the same item from the shelf and go to the till and ask for a refund?"

But that's completely different, you said you'd come into the store with the item. Now you're talking about walking into the store with no item. Can't you see the huge difference!!

So how do we get to the bottom of this riddle or riddles you keep coming up with? I know, how about checking the CCTV! ;)

Ok, I'll try it for you again s l o w l y. I think everyone else got my point and you don't understand the concept of a rhetorical question ;).

Of course I come with the item I want to return. But when I enter the store through the entrance and go to the till, it could look like I just took the item from the shelf. Whereas if I enter the store through the exit and go to the till, there will be no doubt that I brought it into the shop.

Yes, but I'd rather spare me the experience of being accused of being a shoplifter, dragged to the back of the shop and waste my time for the security guy to look through the cctv footage. Did it solve the riddle?

Yes, that would be so much quicker for everyone stuck behind them in the queue, than just not joining the queue in the first place.

And presumably you'd have to get small items out of your bag and wave them in the air as you walked into the shop...

For things like this, it can be helpful to post on Facebook what has happened and ask for a progress report. Companies hate their dirty linen being aired in public, and can give excellent customer service to try to put things right!
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).

It's not really excellent customer service if you have to "go public" to get them to do something, is it?
  • When I used Lidl I found that I was overcharged for every item I bought.

Because everything from that grotto was like muck and worthless.

And has that ever happened to you? Of course not! * Retail staff can sniff out people who are trying to pull a fast one just like that, once you've done the job for a while people who are trying it on stick out like a sore thumb. How about you walk in through the exit, point out to the person on till this then go and queue. You just don't want to queue that's what this is really about. I took something back to Aldi not too long ago and queued, it's just courteous to rather than barge in.

See the part of my post marked with a * ! This would hardly ever be needed, it was only mentioned due to op trying to throw in complications to justify just going straight to the front and not queueing.

If the security staff knew what they had done why were they not letting the refund .. Ahem..go through then arresting them for deception.
