Overcharged in Lidl

Options
Just looked at the receipt from yesterdays shop at Lidl and noticed they have charged me £12.48 for 32 bars of white chocolate. I bought one and it should have been 39p :(
I usually check my receipts in store but was in a rush yesterday...is there anything I can do? We've eaten half the bar of expensive chocolate and it was nice but not worth £12.48!

Go back to the store and ask them if there is any thing they can do.

That's the thing...won't get chance to go back as busy today then back at work :( Wondered if it's worth emailing customer service, do they have cctv?

I think it has to be worth a try. Obviously you can't prove that you only bought one bar but as it's so unlikely that you would buy so many they might be sympathetic.

Cold comfort now but it's worth taking a look at your receipt while still in the shop. It can happen anywhere so no necessarily a criticism of Lidl.

In this situation I would telephone, try to get it sorted that way and tell them what day I can get back in to collect what they owe me.

All I would add to the comments - and I don't know whether this may have any relevance to your case, OP - is that it's not unusual when manually typing in a figure to accidentally hit the key next to it, especially when working at speed. Hence in the past I have accidentally been charged for 45 rather than 5 kiwi fruit. It was easy to see how the mistake had been made in that situation, but a single bar of chocolate should be scannable. So either its a programming glitch, or you may be asked whether you bought 2 or 3 bars.

Surely they will be able to check as their stock should be up by 31? I'd start by ringing the store if I couldn't make it down there :)

If I've had any problems in the past I've emailed them too & they've rung my up within a few days.

I would email or call the store direct. Its worth asking.

I once bought a lettuce from Morrisons and only looked at the receipt at home - it had scanned at £8.91. I called them and returned the packaging a week later for my refund.

Lidl once charged me for 33 packs of minced beef - I had bought but luckily notice before I left the shop.

    Good luck.
  • How can you not notice you were overcharged by £12?! Its not like you were shopping at Waitrose.....
