Buy one of DarkMatters cars - they are top of the range and have plenty of toys. Usually the type he throws out of his pram..0

There's nothing wrong with buying a new car - if no one did, we'd have a lot less second hand cars to choose from!
Enjoy it.0 -
Just signed on a 2-yr lease for a VW Tiguan - needed a family car but didn't want to own a second car at this stage so just leasing.
coming in a £268pm for the Match trim DSG.
I'm doing this with my car allowance from work and not using their company car scheme - cheaper and I get what I want plus it has enough left over to pay the fuel bill so I consider this a little bit moneysaving!!
The fact its a 15 reg didn't even register when I completed it last Friday and we get it this Wednesday which will be nice.
Now that's the family car taken car of I need to plot my way to getting a Golf R a little further down the line...0 -
Effectively my car ~ £1k down, £128/month for 3 years (after that I probably wont need a car in the UK, or I may need a different car), I do about 8k miles a year. The car I've ordered does (manufacture claim) 60+mpg combined, has £20 tax for the 2nd and 3rd year and includes servicing. Obviously under warrantee for this time and no MOT.
Which car is this? (And what does 'effectively' mean? ;-) )
I'm slowly coming round to the idea that my next car might be a new one, as long as the right deal comes around.
My current 13 year old car has cost me close to that per month in ongoing maintenance! When you add tax, MoT, servicing, 'consumables' (4 tyres, cam belt, discs and pads...) to the inevitable 'out of the blue' costs, it's cost me £2400 in two years. On top of the £1500 cost.
Even if I get away with just routine servicing over the next year, I'll have paid £77/ month in ongoing costs over 3 years. Maybe I've been unlucky (or overspent on maintenance) but the price difference in going for a new car seems quite attractive.0 -
What I meant by effectively was i'm using what my cars worth for deposit, the px value wasn't great so will be private selling it.
Quite a few cars out there for similar money, the VAG small car Seat Mii/VW up/skoda citigo, the Peugeot 108, Hyundai I10,
My current car has been pretty reliable, but with tax at £20 odd a month and rubbish fuel economy it will almost pay for itself, so it was an easy decision to make.0 -
Ah, small cars like that wouldn't work for me. (Current car is a Fabia estate, and I need the boot space.)
The new prices on the Seat Ibiza SC were looking tempting, but again, not quite big enough for what I want.
Sounds like a very easy decision for you though. Enjoy the new car!0 -
I've only ever bought one brand new car, VX 220 turbo *sigh* - worth every penny, had a lot of fun in it, enjoyed it being brand new. If you have the money then why not spend it as you wish.
I will probably not buy a new car again, unless money matters change a lot.
I have just bought 3 brand new vans, first one arrives tomorrow.:)0 -
If it Appreciates – Buy it. If it Depreciates – Lease it.
Not the best advice for all but if you are in a position to make use of the above statement you can see how it works.
Trick is to only lease a number that runs as close to the depreciation as you can - that way you don't lose out too much.0 -
I know this is a forum about saving money, but we are going to pick up our first ever brand new car tomorrow, the registration documents came through the post today and I didn't realise till this week it's going to be one of the first cars on the road with the '15' plate
So who else has been stupid enough to waste their money on a brand new car this year
Note: please no advice about just much £££ we would have saved by buying used etc, I've done all that already (it's about £12k), this was a purchase decisions purely based on wanting to treat our selves to a bit of luxury.
Did you win the lottery?0 -
Having just ordered a new car i'd love to see one of you guys find me a ex demo/nearly new car for the same monthly payment that i'm due to pay.

I need 5 doors and A/C, as it happens I've ordered CC as well, as I've found I use this a lot in my current car, but could live without it.
One last thing, in 2 years my circumstances may change to the point I need to get rid of my small car and get one more suited to motorways.
So to show me what a 'mug' I have been please show me what I should have bought.
What car did you get for under £6k new? I'm looking to get a small car for driving to work in, and that price seems pretty good.0
