We're taking delivery of our new car in two weeks time. Placed the order mid Feb, so was surprised that it'll be ready on MArch 12th.
It will replace the current 15 year old Mondeo that I'll still get £500 quid for.0 -
Why worry about depreciation if you are planning to keep the car a long time? I bought my car new a year ago, cost £9000. I'm well aware if I traded it in now I would get about £6000. However I plan to keep it ten years so £900 a year is much more palatable to most people. In fact it should still be worth a grand at ten years of age so make that £800 a year.
I've been down the buy a banger route and buy a three year old model route in the past and both these have had their pros and cons, everyone's experiences and opinions will differ.Current MFD 1st July 2026

I'm not even sure why so many worry about value, when I purchase a car, I don't think of the value whilst I'm making use of the vehicle, if say I paid £20k for a car, it's worth nothing until I come to sell it that is when the value becomes of interest, in between I don't think of going around in a few thousand pound note.0 -
Anyone fancy giving me a job that will allow me to afford to buy a brand-new car...? I love my little incredibly basic Getz but would like a car with some toys on it

HBS, it's not just about salary but how one budgets (and saves) , I remember when I was younger I used to whinge about the prices of cars, I would get cars for £50-100 and then I got my 1st good car a Triumph Dolomite for £630 it was probably 5yrs old.
My budgetting of late has been 'scary' and it can't be down to simply not having council tax and water rates these two months, I also have to pay CS at 15% net.0
