Good on you mate. You enjoy your new car. I wish I could afford a brand new car.
Never mind all the jelous folk on here.
I will just have to keep dreaming lol
I bought a 1999 ford focus ghia for £350 last week full MOT . Nice wee car but I still wish I could afford a new onejust because you are paranoid doesnt mean to say they are not out to get you0 -
Enjoy the new car and the luxury. I love driving the car out of the showroom and knowing nobody else has owned/abused it. The service I got/get from Mercedes is worth every penny and now a year on I don't worry about how much my car is worth now, I just enjoy the car and so should you. 0

Congratulations on your purchase..
I've forgotten the experience of the new car smell, time to part exchange my banger I think !0 -
Enjoy it, look after it, and ignore the envious seeking to belittle the new car choice.
New cars arn't my thing, but thankfully the law hasn't yet been passed that says we must all think the same, well not yet, give it time.0 -
And 5 mins after driving out of car showroom it will be worth about 10-40% less
Pointless post.
Buying a new car through one the discount sites can make better financial sense than a nearly new purchase, particularly if you are intending to keep the car for the long-term.
For instance the DtD discount on a Focus Zerec is around £4,500.0 -
If nobody bought a brand new car, where would the second hand cars come from?
As previously said....fleet cars, mobility vehicles, lease vehicles, ex police cars etc.
Companies get huge discounts on new vehicles, individuals don't which is why I will never understand why an individual would buy a brand new car. Still if you enjoy being anally invaded by a salesman in the financial sense then I guess a new car is the best way of doing it.0 -

Did you not read the last paragraph in the original post? If they want to buy new, thats their prerogative.
And several things :-
Clearly you'd have to be a total !!!!!! to sell your new car five minutes after you bought it so the "its worth 40% less" holds no water at all because its not relevant?
How do you know what incentives / discount they got that could make buying new a better option than buying used?
Its particularly bad taste to try to take the pleasure the O/P has in buying a new car with some sniffy irrelevant comment.0 -
You'd have probably got more luxury through buying a nearly new/ex demo car with a higher spec for similar money. I will never understand why anyone would buy a brand new vehicle.
I have bought several brand new cars to the spec i wanted for less than the cash price / lower monthly payments than the dealer was looking for their demo car.
There are many reasons to buy new. As you're clearly blinkered, i'll outline just 10 off the top of my head for you :-- You often get incentives on new cars - spec upgrades, manufacturers discounts, etc - that may offset any perceived difference in price.
- Often demos, pre-reg, etc cars will be old models, old engines or odd specs you wouldnt otherwise buy
- Usually they're on a previous plate or previous year or both, meaning the car will be worth considerably less come trade in time
- Your car wont have been driven by 100 other people before you
- You will get the EXACT spec you want with a new car, not the spec someone else wanted
- You will get the benefit of a full 3 year warranty, not just the remainder of the warranty which could be as little as 2 years.
- You have the benefit of a car that wont already have 1,000 to 10,000 miles of wear and tear on them
- You have a brand new car. You wouldnt buy used shoes would you?
- New cars can often be bought with discounted servicing plans, which you may not be able to buy retrospectively
- Some people just want a new car - and are happy to pay a bit more.
