I'm in the same boat - purchased an iPhone 6 on the back of the newsletter yesterday morning and paid with paypal (I don't have a credit card). No confirmation email, order not showing in basket. I emailed them but no response yet and the phone was engaged all day yesterday. I'm extremely worried and can't afford to lose £400.

Does paypal offer protection? Should I contact them now?

I'm sure it will be fine; they have probably been overwhelmed since Martins email. Paypal should refund if your phone doesn't turn up.

Problem is, how much is exactly Martin these days and how much is just MoneySupermarket.com using Martin as a figurehead and just selling their recommendations to the highest payer?

As I said, the prices aren't even all that cheap on some of what they sell.
Saw it in the MSE email and interested as OH wants a new phone. But with so much doubt surrounding the company, will keep a safe distance from them for now.
MSE recommendations have to be taken with a pinch of salt these days...

Not happy as payment did go through, via Paypal from my credit card. So why are they not honouring the order?

Hmmm. Spoke to them on the phone. Sound like a total Mickey Mouse outfit. Despite me ringing the number provided on Paypal by Hot Bargain Phones, he couldn't answer my queries and wanted me to email customer services...!

They have not responded to my email from yesterday, and their website seems to be down now too, so I'm going to open a dispute with Paypal.
    That's the last time I'll take a rec from Martin's email :(

Ha! Well they respond quick enough when you open a dispute!
Within 10 minutes I received the following:

Dear XXXX, I believe you have purchased the wrong item, iPhone 5C are sold from our website at £165.50 and there should be no promotional code. I will be happy to issue refund on those grounds, we apologise for that.
    A Refund was issued.

Yes, I think I will do the same; these muppets are still saying I haven't ordered anything, despite me quoting the Paypal transaction ID several times

Don't think I'll be taking MSE offers as seriously in future either. Shame. I always (used to) consult Martin/MSE before buying anything!

I also bought one yesterday off the back of Martin's email. Chickened out when I read the appalling feedback across multiple forums. The article said they had good feedback on Amazon but even that's pretty bad!

I sent an email requesting a cancellation this morning and called a little earlier to confirm. Spoke to a very unprofessional and defensive rep on the phone who said I will receive a refund within 48hrs. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Also haven't received email confirmation of my order to date. When I called the guy I spoke to simply read out my 'invoice number' as though that would be enough!

No response to my Payapl dispute yet.

Yes, they seem incredibly unproffessional. The guy on the phone was getting stroppy with me because I stupidly expected a customer service phone number to get you through to someone at customer services! How silly of me :D
