Did you tax the vehicle last before or after you'd moved address?

  • I taxed it before I moved out and back in as crazy as it all sounds... I moved out of current address, then moved back in after splitting up and getting back together with mental/not mental gf lol

If you taxed it online you would have needed the reference number from the V5 or from the tax reminder letter.
If the V5 is registered to that address where you are just now then you'd normally get tax reminders sent to it. As you mentioned you haven't had any, is it possible you used the V5 to tax it?

Is the vehicle insured under your name or your father's name?

  • Yeah I might have used that to tax it just can't remember vehicle is insured under my name

If you can't find the V5 then i'd apply for a replacement.
There's a small fee for a replacement one, but can't remember the cost.
You used to go to a post office that stocks passport forms for the form to apply for a replacement V5 but not sure if this is still the case

    £25, and you want a V62 - which is here... https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/360103/V62_220714.pdf
  • Wow... Talk about coincidence... Just had a letter from my friends the local police about one of speed camera incidents in mid December, quite ok with it tbh, assume everything is all ok now? Thanks for all help

It may still be worth reporting the theft of the plate to the police IMO. As an areed part of the sale, it could save a lot of hassle for you later on.

What is the result of the letter from police?
