So which reg do the insurance company have?
Yes.
There are almost certainly offences been committed here.
What reg was given in the log book at what time?
What reg was on the insurance/VED at what time?
What reg was on the car at what time?
A form is filled out at the dealership when I change the car, and a fee is paid (usually negitoated so it's paid by the dealership, but that's irrellevant, as it needs to be paid by someone). Only then can a change of plate take place.
My latest car was delivered on '64' plates for a few days, until the 'official' change had taken place. You cannot just swap plates onto a new car without DVLA approval.💙💛 💔0 -

Insurance company have the new (original) plate and not the private... As far as anything goes, the original plates are what should be on the van as dvla had told me the private plate was no longer registered to the vehicle, it's all taxed and insured under the original plates that I've put back on, it was confusing me that got me in this predicament... As far as I was concerned, I bought a vehicle with a particular private plate (which I'm not bothered about just want it sorting) and didn't think it would be an issue0

Was the plate on the van when you bought it?
Private or dealer?
Were you told the plate would/would not be on the vehicle?
What reg was the tax/insurance in when the vehicle was BOUGHT?
What was the date the plate was transferred (e.g before or after you bought it?)
I'm a little concerned from your last post you've been unwittingly conned.
I'm going into a meeting, will reply when I get out if I have the answers to as many of the above as possible.💙💛 💔0 -

That said the private plate but then when contacted dvla quite a long time after they said that plate wasn't registered to that vehicle anymore... When I do a check for tax on dvla website I enter the old reverted plates which are on vehicle now and everything seems fine so seems like according to them the old plates are registered back with vehicle and the private plate is not (which again doesn't fuss me as long as it's all right)0
