Hiya Turtles
Sorry I've been MIA. Friday was the bestie's wedding. It was an amazing day, she looked beautiful as always. I didn't fall off my heels, which is a bonus and I got to spend the day celebrating with my OH.
I then thought I was in for a quiet weekend of sofa snuggles and endless TV. However I mentioned to the OH that the junk room being full of junk was getting to me and the fact that I just kept moving stuff around. So, Saturday when we got back from the wedding hotel we completely emptied the junk room. Everything that went out of it had to go to a permanent home.
We then moved to the spare room and gutted 95% of that too. There are two medium size plastic boxes for me to sort through and re-home bits. Then today we did the tip run, old hifi, printer, videos (casettes) and six or seven bags of rubbish. We literally haven't stopped.
I knocked up a late lunch of honey mustard chicken and pasta for the OH and i had pasta and cheese and I've just dropped her at the station.
I've caught up on all the posts and i definitely sense that end of month feeling. People have either thrown in the towel or are kind of floating to the end of the month. Not sure about the rest of you, but that tends to be how each month for me works out.
There is no right or wrong. I think the whole point of this challenge and Kat's 'ethos' is just to give things a go, think about what we are doing and why and see what we can do about it. Each month someone learns something new, and the great thing is, we share it so others can benefit.
Remember Turtles, we are all helping each other along here. It isn't a race. It's a group effort to get from the start of the month, to the end without any major disasters. And should there be any disasters, you can bet your bottom dollar that we will all be there to pick whoever up, dust them down and help them back on the path!Feb NST #4

Still plodding along. 2 more Sfd. Sfd14/18 and rambling on here to keep me on track. Nearly bought clothes today online, got to the checkout and refused to pay delivery charges. Thank heavens do I really need another patterned work dress.
Tried long walk but dog poorly sick so came home. She's fine tonight when I took her out after 7pm and it's still light out there.
Not done anything productive today just ate too much, feeling bored and too lazy to do any major job.

Hello guys!!
Sorry.. to shy spender & thrifty if she is watching... I normally give it my all until the end of the month. Frankly I feel like a deserter. I've lost my mojo well and truly. I think it is down to a few sad bits of news, a very dramatic month with the toddler from hell, not being very well (reminds me, take antibiotic!) and work being insane.. and most of all... spending. I doubt I have ever spent even a quarter of the money I spent on myself this month, in one go in my entire life. It feels wrong. It knocked me all out of sync and I just haven't recovered. it was desperately needed, but still leaves me feeling very lost. I've been fighting debt or trying to build healthy(ish) savings for over 6 years now and I think I broke myself a little bit this month, going against the grain so drastically.
So yes, throwing the towel in it was. My budget on YNAB does not add up. It won't until the end of April. But I am going to fight like a little demon to do everything right next month. There is no way I would be where I am now without the support and strength I get from you guys on here. I can't strong together SFD's.. meal plan, or anything without you all pushing me on. So thank you...
In good news... today became my first SFD for what feels like the whole month. That takes me to 13
Traveller that is incredible news!! Well done to your daughter. She has the brains I can only dream of having. Congratulations, and well done for being such a fantastic supportive mum. She wouldn't be where she is without you, and if she hasn't already realised, she will tell you in a couple of years :heart2:
Am stuck in a bit of a conundrum. I need to go shopping tomorrow. I am writing up a list, meal planning, utilising cupboard stuff, but the fridge is BARE apart from condiments and the last dregs of the milk. I don't even have human butter, let alone cheese  (human butter is actual butter.. not.. like.. woman butter  - we have human butter and kids butter which is dairy free!! I can't remember the real names :rotfl:)
So.. do I add it into this months budget effectively doubling my planned spend for this month. Or do I upfront it for next month?

FMess, it's fab that you tutor. I don't think you can truly know how much difference you make to those children's livesMy daughter owes so much to hers, she only got chemistry because of him.
Thank you traveller, that is such a kind thing to say. I really love tutoring as I love teaching students who really want to achieve their potential. I think somewhere down the line in the future I might go part time at school and do a lot more tutoring. There seems to be a real shortage of tutors near us.
Lilt - when I lived at home, we had mum's butter (fl0ra) and dad's butter (lurp4ck) and us kids either ate mum's or dad's, depending on what we fancied. We also had King, Queen and Princess spoons. Dad would only eat from one type of spoon - so we called it the King spoon, my mum from another - the Queen one, and us three girls liked the other ones so called them Princess spoons.
p.s. I would put the shopping you buy tomorrow against next month as you will use most of the products next month.LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Thanks for the kind words :-) Lilt, thank you, I felt a bit emotional reading that. I too would use Fmess's logic regarding your shopping.:A Your Always in my heart, you never ever will be forgotten-9/9/14:heart2:0

Big congratulations to your daughter Traveller.
Shyspender what a lovely post.
Lilt stop beating yourself up and cut yourself some slack. You have had an extremely difficult month. All mothers get to the point where after years of not spending anything on themselves, they break. This can be a good thing like the day you realise getting through to 10am without anyone being sick on you or wiping weetabix in your hair may count as an achievement but shouldn't be your standard for going out in public. Start next month afresh, with renewed determination but stop the blame. Some were much needed purchases, the lentil mountain and other wholefoods were building your store cupboard and will help in the coming months (and save strain on your back - remember when everyone relies on you, you need to take care of you). Hope your purchases bring you joy (don't let guilt spoil your pleasure).
I have had a very lazy day. Some reading and sewing happened but lots of sleeping and dozing in between. I still want the takeaway we were allowed but not convinced myself I deserve it yet. I held off over the weekend as the special offer comes down to £13 Monday to Thursdays (2 curries, 2 starters, rice, naan and potatoes and if I split the curries and add extra veg I can make them go further still). Think I will 'bank' it and try to hold off until nearer the end of the week and tackle some more jobs (frogs) to justify it before then.
Today I am grateful for my bed (the warmth, the comfort, the support better than a husband on all counts), for entertaining fiction, for working through the mountain of unfinished projects (actually had to look for something to do next as the pile is no longer falling on top of me) and for good films (DS2 called last night and put the film he intended to buy for my birthday onto my laptop - it was Irish, far more intelligent and funnier than the things he usually tries to make me watch).
Have a good end of month, come back even stronger next month and if times are tough, just keep plodding (as Beanielou always says). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0
