Paypal Account Limited - Dispute Chargeback

  • Generally speaking PayPal will not limit your account simply because two disputes have been opened. Under normal circumstances you would expect to win the disputes as neither seller had provided tracking information.

In your case you have a relatively new account with three high value disputes logged. That's not a good ratio and one that would certainly cause them to look more closely at both your account itself, and your transaction history.

Suspending your account would indicate that you have exceeded one or more risk indicator, so they feel that your account or your history is concerning. PayPal will not let you know why they made that choice however if a chargeback were instigated and they chose to defend it then it is on that basis that they would do so.
  • I concur with the other posts regarding the 'likely status' of your account. You do 'appear' to be slightly dodgy.

That said, when I meant for you to show the cases, I mean the full detail, not the summary. Go into one, and screenshot the entire case, it gives the full details (no personal detail needs be shown).

Here are the disputes in detail:

This was for the transaction for £170. The buyer failed to provide any evidence that he sent the handset and Paypal escalated the claim after over two weeks had passed.

This one was for the transaction of £230 where the buyer failed to respond at all. Paypal advised me to escalate the claim as the buyer supposedly posted the handset using RM Special delivery and 7 days had passed.

    This is very confusing.

The £230 one, did you pay the seller direct (I assume you meant seller)? It is very important how you paid it.

The first, if I'm honest, it's not the comments I would normally expect a buyer claiming INR to post.....but I see Paypal escalated it, although that was 2 days before the escalation you made in the £230 item......there is something you aren't telling us here.

I'm being very transparent. This really is everything I have to show. Again, the second seller (£230 transaction) has also committed fraud on eBay which can be seen by their eBay account.

I escalated the £230 claim two days after since a week had passed from the pay date and I was advised any Royal Mail special delivery post would have arrived by then.

Also, I received a request from both sellers and paid via Paypal.

I don't know if you are intentionally being vague but it's rather hard work. I know you paid by Paypal, but it is quite important HOW you paid. Ie, via a gift purchase, an invoice, a link.......

On that note. I'm afraid I am out.

You received a PayPal request for payment from the sellers?

Why was that, were these private purchases and not via eBay and of so how did the sellers find you? I alluded to a 'clever' PayPal scam earlier and this is showing some similarities - do you have absolutely no link at all to either seller and you just randomly 'found ' them or did they approach you in any way?

    Something vital is missing here.

I purchased a phone from a seller via eBay. One of the sellers stated that they would lower the price of the handset as they could save the 10% Final Value Fee. The seller stated that they would send a request directly via Paypal and cancel the eBay auction and I could pay that way.

A week later, the phone didn't arrive and I needed a good phone within a budget very soon. assumed I would be protected by Paypal. This time, I approached the second seller on eBay and asked them to send me a request as I thought Paypal and lower the handsets price for me by using this method I adopted from the other seller. Again, I thought Paypal would protect me in case something went wrong.

However, I should've considered that both sellers had low feedback (one had 9 and the other had 1).

I am being absolutely honest here. Also, this post should clear up how I became aware of these sellers.

It would be a draconian response, but I wonder if eBay objected to you dealing 'off eBay' - I've never heard of a buyer getting into trouble because of it, it is usually the seller.
