Some advice for Jet2.
Having just seen the One Show article on Flight Delay Compensation I wondered if the extent of the negative publicity you would generate was considered in your "Never pay out, no matter what" strategic meetings.
Having crunched the numbers and having studied the actuaries on the financial consequences of taking your current stance on Regulation 261 (I.e Not paying out and forcing all legitimate claimants to "take you to court").... You are now staring to suffer damage due to the publicity you are facing.
Your name is now public enemy number 1 as far as Regulation 261 is concerned.
Your name is the first one raised on this issue in the press and media (Huzar vs JET2 / Allen vs JET2 etc.)
You are being seen as THE COMPANY who is being seen to disregard the law of the land, a law which has been confirmed / rubber stamped in the Supreme Court and now you are the company who is being seen to stick two fingers up to the highest court in the land whilst denying Joe Public his right to compensation.
It is you Jet2 who is taking the flak now... Not 2 Birds, not BA, not even the one people love to hate... Ryanair !
In fact, i'd bet in courts around the country when the judiciary see your name on the defendants list along with 2 Birds, the judge will have have made up his mind before he has heard a word...
"It's just Jet2 trying it on and clutching straws again, i'll have this wrapped up before my chair gets warm"
When the person who actually makes this decision not to pay, to stick to your guns and make passengers fight this war of attrition is in discussions with your friends on Speed Dial Button 1 (Mr 2 Birds) do you not realise that this Lawyer / Snake Oil Salesman / Shiester is only going to tell you that the course you are on is the best way forward and that it will be better for you financially in the long run...
He is telling you what you want to hear and it will not affect their business one iota what happens as a result.
This disregard of legal process and now the negative publicity YOU are receiving cannot be doing your business ANY favors at all, in fact, i'll wager it is now ATTRACTING MORE legal claims against you.
Claims you will ultimately have to pay.

To be fair, Ryanair had a Barrister present for the Barnes V Ryanair case, he made submissions to the Court, supporting Jet2s case.... This lasted for about 10 mins, so I almost agree entirely with your post.;) but Ryanair do have a hand in all this.....After reading PtL Vaubans Guide , please don't desert us, hang around and help others!

One can only imagine that the 20000 potential cases is an attempt to garner sympathy, but I would say that if anything it reinforces the need to hold j2 to account if that is the number of flight delays they are experiencing. It's just indicative of an extremely unreliable fleet.0

Excellent write up on the day's events...broadcasting/journalism as a side interest?!
We await tomorrow....Successfully sued Ryanair in 2013/14...and have been 'helping' litigants since then.
