Opinion on hairdresser charges

The only board guide who can move this thread is Glad. (BG's can move threads only on their own boards.) BGs are volunteers, remember, and don't have time to read every post. So if you feel strongly that you want a thread moved, the thing to do is to PM the relevant BG and ask nicely!
I never asked it to be moved! (although probably it should) I was referring to the OP not posting it on this board in the first place.
Does that clarify it for you? good!0 -
Shouldn't this thread be in the health and beauty section?
Why on earth is it on the family and relationship board.?Tiddlywinks wrote: »I agree, this board is a dumping ground for all sorts of stuff these days - the board guides don't seem to move them either.I never asked it to be moved! In 'jobbing musician's' defence scarlett55, your post (and tiddlywinks post) DID seem to indicate that you think this thread should be moved. Your cries of 'why on EARTH is this in the family and relationship board?' did give the impression somewhat, that you believe it should be moved. Hence jobbing musician's response to you.
And he/she was pleasant and polite in that post, and not rude, so I don't know why you have such a defensive attitude.0 -
Wow, I think £47 is expensive, £57 for just a cut is daylight robbery!!
I pay £20 for wash cut and blow ( and that includes layers) and they cut my daughters hair for £5. I could have full head of foils for £50
Yep £47 for a cut IS daylight robbery IMO. Hell will freeze over before I would pay that.I pay about £30 for mine at a mid-range salon. Lovely hairdressers, nice head massage when you get your hair washed.
Price certainly doesn't equal quality by any stretch though. I had my hair absolutely massacred at Toni & Guy, wouldn't touch it with a bargepole now.
Agree. I went to T & G once when a colleague recommended it (some 7 years back.) It was about £37 at the time, and it made me cry when I handed the money over, because I looked like someone had cut my hair in the dark. It was dreadful.
I couldn't get back to my regular hairdresser fast enough. She spent half an hour putting it right, and didn't even charge me because she felt so sorry for me. She normally charged about £9 for a cut at the time. It was a year before my hair was relatively back to normal.
So IMO, any suggestion that a stylist at a fancy name salon is better than the local market town stylist, is laughable.0 -

I didn't need anything clarifying, it's smacks of patronising to me!
No wonder I hardly post on this board, I'd been told how cliquey it is and how you all come to the defence of each other!0 -

Calm down. I didn't think he was patronising. he was just trying to help. And I was just clarifying that for you. :rotfl:
I'm just teasin'!
Seriously, chill.
It's not cliquey on here. Not that I have noticed anyway. Keep posting, and stop being a silly sausage!

That's Ok. Sorry from me too, if you felt I was having a go. I wasn't. Hope your day is better tomorrow. :kisses3:
Don't be put off posting here though. I sometimes feel like people are sticking together and having a go at me, and I am like :mad::mad:
And then the next day I am like
:D:D
All the best.

Does it really matter?!
That other board doesn't seem to get much traffic and this board is always busy so you are more likely to get more responses and opinions.0 -

I dont think price is always an accurate reflection of how someone looks, more the hairdressers skills.
True enough.
For clarity, the cut costs £50 (he's the owner so top dollar) the rest is the colour. I gave up colouring my own hair after ruining my bathroom with spills of permanent hair dye.
It seems to be the going rate round here. I've tried the granny salons and don't really want a twopenny all off. I like the modern salon experience, pampering, free WiFi etc.
To me, it's the cost of looking (feeling) beautiful and worth every penny."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
Ive never had a disastrous hair cut/colour as far as I can remember. One of the reasons I changed to superdrug hair colours was due to them being BUAV approved, neither the ingredients nor the finished product are animal tested.
Although having picked up an old passport and found my photo then was brown with a fringe Im thinking is it a good look to have your 1997 hairstyle?
I do like being blonde, Im naturally dark blonde, just got fed up maintaining it.
A local community centre has an onsite hairdresser and they are offering a cut and blow dry for ten quid so I'll go there shortly to get a cut I think.0
