No wonder some hairdressers charge such massively over-inflated ridiculous prices,
    ..........
Some people will come along and say 'it's an art' 'it's a craft' or some such lines... And maybe it is, but if my hairdresser can charge £7.50, and the salon in town charges £12, then how does anyone justify charging almost £50 for the same service?
    ..........
I think they prey on the pretentious, and people who have more money than sense.

Oh dear!!!! :rotfl: I rest my case.

Sorry to disappoint you luv, but your OTT priced haircuts are done by hairdressers with EXACTLY the same qualifications and skills as the ones who charge a THIRD of what you pay!

You are very naive if you believe any different. You are being royally ripped off.

    End of.

    Nuff said.

MY money, MY choice - enough said!

I go to my usual salon every 5 weeks - and have highlights or colour touch up on each visit. I pay between £80 and £130 per visit depending on the stage of colour.

The service is fabulous, the environment is very peaceful and relaxing and I enjoy taking the time out of my busy life.

I'm a professional woman and more than capable of making spending chices in my life... so, please don't try to make yourself feel better by kidding yourself that the service isn't worth it or that I might be simple-minded in being prepared to spend that amount on my hair or any other service.

  • Are there any local colleges or training salons near you. The reason I ended up going to a training salon was because my friend had a haircut and it looked fab and when I asked her where she got it done she told me and told me it only cost her £7.

I think when it comes to charging more depending on your qualifications you still need to take into account what people can afford. I work in the fitness industry and I'm very well qualified compare to some people, less than others, but I charge more or less according to what the local going rate is.

Some people simply can't afford a lot of money to shell out, whether it be a haircut or a fitness class. Instructors who live in London charge 2 or 3 times what I do and people pay it, you'd struggle to get folk to pay that around here (west of scotland).

Unfortunately there aren't any local colleges that do hairdressing or training salons nearby - I wish there was as I would definitely give them a go!

Id have to disagree on that one, because as soon as someone makes any thread on this forum, it becomes other people's business by default.

If there were no differing opinions people would just sit and agree with one another all day

    It might catch on though:rotfl:
  • This thread has inspired me to buy some hairdressing scissors to cut my fringe, as I was passing a salon the other day and saw they take £3 for a fringe trim, might as well do it myself.
  • Not sure if this link will work, but if anyone is registered with ncrowd, used to be kgbdeals, they have lots of offers for cuts and highlights, 26 offers for cuts and highlights when I put London in on a search and they have 20 per cent off all local offers until midnight tonight.

My cut and colour is £97. This is in Essex.

I have it done every seven or eight weeks.

    £97?

Suburban salon in Manchester, not a 'granny salon' but definitely one for locals (favouring the 'blue' rather than 'red' locals - I stay quiet!!). A cut and colour costs me £36.

Id expect the hairdresser from TOWIE to do my hair for that price. Plus a glass of champers and some chocolates, foot massage as well

Am joking just incase I start world war 3.

Re the OP, I think it's cheeky to charge you extra. It doesn't sound at all like a restyle.

Re hairdressers in general, you can pay little or you can pay a lot. I've seen some truly awful haircuts on people who believe their hair to look nice, however I don't think that means they were cheaper necessarily.

In my own experience, I used to pay £20 to a local salon, this was a wash, cut, dry and straighten. Now, I go to a different local salon and I pay £38 for the same thing, however the quality of cut is far superior to the one I used to pay £20 for. I also get a cup of tea, a biscuit and a very relaxing hour of me time. I very frequently get compliments on my hair now and it is very easy to style because the cut is so good. I wouldn't go back to the old place if you paid me now!

Oh, and she didn't charge me any extra for a restyle.

I go to a "Everything's £9.90" Celly's salon; they do a "colour package" which is a full head colour, wash/cut/dry and conditioning treatment for £29.90. Bargain - bearing in mind at my previous salon it was £125 for a cut and colour!
We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

£97 I'd be expecting more than head, but gold plated crimpers, a decent blow and a full facial treatment.

And for the facial, I am taking cut throat. Shave that is!

As for the vibrating seats. My word, what is the world coming too!
