It certainly is cheeky of the salon to charge you an extra £10 after you've had the cut. Not that I would have been happy paying it if they had mentioned it before the cut, mind!

I only go to the hairdressers three or four a year. I'm confident enough to cut my fringe myself in between times but I havent been brave enough yet to try to cut the rest of it. Having said that, my hair dresser only charges £30 for a cut, including layers. The one time I did go to a "cheap" salon, they ruined my hair

DH pays £10 for his hair dresser. He goes to the gents cut and go where a lovely lady called Ola scissor cuts it. I have offered to cut it for him but apparently the clippers arent good enough :rotfl:
  • I pay £25 every couple of months for a cut & blow dry. Boyfriend pays £12 & I give his hair a trim every so often.

    £97?

Suburban salon in Manchester, not a 'granny salon' but definitely one for locals (favouring the 'blue' rather than 'red' locals - I stay quiet!!). A cut and colour costs me £36.

It sounds expensive but I look the dog's dibdabs. ;)

I pay about £30 for mine at a mid-range salon. Lovely hairdressers, nice head massage when you get your hair washed.

Price certainly doesn't equal quality by any stretch though. I had my hair absolutely massacred at Toni & Guy, wouldn't touch it with a bargepole now.

I'm still looking for a cheap place to get my hair cut - all I ever want is the end trimmed to get rid of split ends, but because it's quite long (well below shoulder length, but not now down to my waist) I've been refused service or given a "go away" price - I've even been told once that the stylist couldn't wash it as it would get caught in the sink plughole!
It's not quite so long now, but I have offered to stand for a quick trim, but even that didn't help.
My partner has hair almost as long as mine, it would be interesting to see if we got charged different rates for the same cut just because he's a fella. Then again, because he's never set foot in a hairdresser's, they might have a lot more work to do on his mane of frizz than on my sleek locks! :)

The 10 quid college haircuts and colours, I also felt like I looked like the dugs danglies as we say in scotland.

I dont think price is always an accurate reflection of how someone looks, more the hairdressers skills.

Shouldn't this thread be in the health and beauty section?
Why on earth is it on the family and relationship board.?

I agree, this board is a dumping ground for all sorts of stuff these days - the board guides don't seem to move them either.

    Let me clarify for you.

The only board guide who can move this thread is Glad. (BG's can move threads only on their own boards.) BGs are volunteers, remember, and don't have time to read every post. So if you feel strongly that you want a thread moved, the thing to do is to PM the relevant BG and ask nicely! :D
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).

Wow, I think £47 is expensive, £57 for just a cut is daylight robbery!!

I pay £20 for wash cut and blow ( and that includes layers) and they cut my daughters hair for £5. I could have full head of foils for £50 😮
