All sounds good. Nice to hear of a Dr who doesn't immediately "reach for the prescription pad" but actually listens. Think you've got a good 'un there.

I'm sure our semi-resident CBT "expert" will be popping in later!

Have a look at the headspace app.. It is a really nice intro to mindfulness and meditation. It's a free 10 day trial.

    Hey you

I think you got an exceptional doctor there and am so glad you came out of it more positively. Having a Dr who listens to you and doesn't just shove pills at you is fantastic. I had one recently with the introduction to the new diet, and look how that has worked out.

Mindfulness is fab. As is meditation. Take a few minutes out and just sit, breathe and relax. Something I have needed to employ numerous times. I am not a fan of anti-depressants anyway but glad you have CBT and something to focus towards. Hopefully you're on the track to feeling much more YOU very soon.

    Big hugs xxx

Thanks for the app tip Stepup, will have a look at that later, my phone signal is rubbish here at work.

I got a few jobs done last night and squeezed in 30 minutes on the wii fit. :) Sorted today's food and logged it all on the nutracheck app AND finally charged and updated my Fitbit which I now have on. This morning it's telling me I had over 2 hours of restless sleep out of 5.5 in total last night. Oops. :o

Annoyingly, I found a split in the super-duper new footstool I bought not so long ago - the material has sort of frayed at the seam. I have emailed DFS ebay store to see if they will do aything about it, but I'm thinking it's unlikely as it was ex-display. :( I will have to try and come up with a way of fixing it the best I can.

Even more annoyingly, my central heating packed in last night. :(:(:( I spent an hour on the phone to my Dad, running up stairs, down stairs with various screwdrivers adjusting 'things', but no joy. I called the heating care policy thingy I have to be told they only respond within office hours and will call me at some point today to make an appointment, so DS will be staying at his Dad's tonight if they don't fix it today as it's currently freezing here.
not impressed with the central heating cover, I won't be renewing with them.

Right - first job of the day - make a cuppa. :D

So, dfs are sending someone out to look at the footstool on Friday - result - never for one minute did I think that would happen. :T

Had to chase npower heating cover again, by which time, no engineers were available for today. So now I've had to take a day off tomorrow for an 'all day appointment', which, I think is my last day of unbooked annual leave until next April 1st. Not entirely sure how I'm going to manage the DFS appointment on Friday yet...

I've finally had my P60 and have all but finished my tax return for last year. I just need to enter my business profit which I have written down at home somewhere and then it's done. I have also done well with my guesses for the tax credits folks as I had over-estimated my employment earnings by about £600, and, I think, my business earnings by about £2k - £3k once I'd done all the expenses, so at least I won't owe them any money. Would be nice if they owed me some!

They should deffers owe you some according to those figures methinks :D well done you!

Gutted for you about booking all your available leave. because I work 3 days per week I squeeze everything into the 2 days I am not at work and so I actually struggle to take all my leave. Made harder by having to fit 5 days worth of work in to those 3 days.

Wish I was closer. I'd lend you Him for DFS - I've booked him for Jellys Thursday Dr trip and Thursday afternoon BT visit so far this week :rotfl:

You could loan him out Lilty!

I found the same with hols when I was part time too, doesn't seem to work being full time though :/
All of my hols have been booked to cover school hols!

Right you lot, I need your help.
I'm feeling pretty glum again and it's definitely linked to not eating right. I was starving all day today - haven't had chance to get to a shop this week yet so no fruit was in the house to take to work for snacks. I had a healthy lunch of scrambled eggs on nimble bread but I was still starving afterwards.

Now tonight, got Ds home, fed him and was starving, so just picked my way round the kitchen of 'ready to eat' food, so dinner was hula hoops, half a tin of sweetcorn, a slice of ham, a wafer bar and some maltesers :o
Now I'm stuffed full of crap, feeling rubbish about myself and very fat :(

I neeeeeed to start cooking for myself, but in the supermarket I just can't justify spending money on myself for things I like.
I also really don't see the point cooking for one. I love to cook.... For other people.

I need healthy recipes for one... That are easy, simple, cheap and filling. And aren't pasta based. And don't make loads, cos I will just eat it all!

    Anyone have any inspiration??

  • Definitely batch cook and freeze. I'm on my own in the week, and often cook for one. I'll cook say a pack of pork chops, but put different seasonings/herbs on each of them and have them on different nights. Frozen veg is apparently as good or better for you than fresh - although I prefer to cook fresh. Soup/bolognese/chilli etc are all easy to do & can be frozen in portions. The other thing I find handy is to have healthy snacks like hummus and crudites already to go, as otherwise I'll eat a pound of cheese in one go! Xx

Hello lovely one! A request from me to please, pretty please, pretty please with knobs on, spend on good food for yourself. Think of it as medicine that your body needs to function well. If little O needed to eat a certain way to remain healthy then you would, without a doubt, buy what was needed. Please do the same for yourself.

I find that keeping off carbs - which is hard because when you hit a 'slump', then that is what you crave - ie the processed ones (veggies are super good to eat), helps immensely. If you feel up to a read, try marksdailyapple.com.
