Do you have a doc appointment yet?

Took dd to see Cinderella at the cinema today. She loved it but also cried rather noisily too!

Sending you a sackful of cuddles xx

So do I - but I'm guessing you're not back from the parental visit yet.

Thanks for your posts everyone, will read and reply properly later, but just wanted to pop by to say my doctor's appointment is in an hour and I'm absolutely dreading it. It's with a male doctor I haven't seen before, so I really hope he's ok and not arrogant like the last male doctor I saw at my surgery.
I've talked myself in and out of it so many times now, but it's too late to cancel now.
Will let you know how it went later.

Well, I got through it without crying - but came extremely close.

The doctor was very nice and very helpful. He listened to me about everything - the constant broken sleep, the forgetfulness and putting things in crazy places! the issues I am dealing with and how I am feeling at the moment.
He explained about stress and the effects it has on the body and said it is all definitely due to the stress, my brain can't effectively switch off.

He then talked a little about medication (which I'm not keen on) and said that, whilst it is helpful in many cases, he doesn't think it would be in my case. He doesn't think I'm depressed, I just have too much to deal with and need to find better ways of dealing with all the different sources of stress, and I agree. He said that the medication can help to ease with the anxiety, but it tends to level people out and, in my case, won't really help with the issues.

To cut a long story short, he has suggested CBT, has given me the number for a Stress control course, and self-referral CBT course, but also mentioned that there were a couple of very valid online courses which he recommends if I don't have the time in the day for the physical courses (which I don't).

He also wrote me a 'prescription' for a stress management book from the local library which I collected this morning. We'll see how that goes. He also talked a lot about 'mindfulness' and suggested I look at that a bit.

I came out feeling more positive, although a few hours back in work have squished that a bit, but I really do need to change the way I think about things.
