You could do, but it would be
a: against the law for anyone to supply you without a valid specification
Which law??
There are reputable companies online who will supply you with and without any specification.
Are you saying that we are stupid to buy off them?
Or do you have an undeclared, but vested interest in putting us off them?0 -

got 4 pairs of daily lenses to try, but have to be wearing a pair when i go back for the 'assessment'
maybe i am wrong but i thought i could just buy online the same lenses ive been given to try? they have the details printed on them!
And when you go back you will either be asked to sign up for the DD scheme OR pay for your trial
Yes you can find a company online who will accept the details from the pairs you have been given but the regulations in this country mean you have to produce an up to date prescription and the company should either be asking for a faxed/scanned copy or the number of your optician0 -

The law does state that it is illegal to sell contact lenses in the UK without specification, ( same as USA and Canada) but theres is nothing to stop you buying from a non uk website,
Thats for all powered lenses - colour changing ones you can buy anywhere0 -

They can be bought from UK websites without a prescription (eg getlenses.co.uk/lensway.co.uk) on line using their uk websites - they send them from other civilised countries (eg Netherlands) where their residents are not called "stupid" by "professional" opticians for buying direct!0 -
If you read my post Quentin - I said it would be stupid for anyone to wear lenses without going back for the check to ensure their suitability!
How can a UK company be reputable if they knowingly break UK law? What's to stop them from supplying counterfeit goods (and yes they do exist) if they're not bothered about the law in the 1st place.Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

Suki - the same laws apply for coloured/crazy plano lenses as well. There is currently a crackdown underway by trading standards and the General Optical Council.Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

Neither of those companies are UK based - theres a huge difference between having a call centre here in the UK and the actual company based here. Thats how they get about the law0 -

Presumably they see the law as an a s s.
They don't break it do they? They circumvent it by way of supplying from other (equally civilised) countries!0 -

I answered your post where you advised we should use "non UK websites".
This is not so as I have shown!
They do seem based here, send out from here in UK, but use another European country to despatch the lenses if you don't supply a prescription.0 -

Indeed
However, if you purchase from sites like this then you are leaving yourself open to buying counterfeit goods and you have no recourse under UK consumer law
You need to be aware of that
Canada and USA also have the same stringent laws
Oh and Im just a consumer same as you and trying my best to save on contacts but it scares me to find the only sites that sell my lenses at a saving that makes it worth my while to order from the web - are breaking uk law/ Sites that demand up to date specification from an optician are usually the same price as Im currently paying on the high street0
