Just one last thing I forgot to mention - tomorrow I'm going to help LL make a collage of all photos of our cat (I took some really great ones over the 5 years he was with us, a very photogenic chap) and if it turns out good we can try and have it made into a print or something properly when there is spare money.. I think it will be nice for him to do that but will see how he goes, maybe it will be too early/upsetting... he hasn't spoken to me about it today but FGN said he mentioned it a few times (I had pre-warned her that he might).

Just popping in to say hello - followed your last diary and made the odd post or two. You really are doing very very well! The job might have been a bit of a blow but as other have said everything happens for a reason. Having a supportive boss, some flexibility with hours and colleagues who have your back is absolutely priceless when dealing with challenges on the home/money front. The job thing will happen I have no doubt - but when you are ready!

In the meantime take heed in what everyone is telling you - you are doing great!!!! raising a child on your own is hard for anyone! Paying debt is hard for anyone! but you will get there - one step at a time!

    Hi Levi

Try to remember the old saying that when one door closes another opens!!!

To be honest, I am sure you won't mind if I am!! But I really feel that it would have been very difficult for you to start a new job with everything else that is going on in your life right now!! There will be other times that will be easier for you than it is at the moment!! You are not bionic and are emotionally drained, very tired and have mountains to deal with in your life right now!! Surely you should realise that this is not a good time for you to start a new job.

Just say you did get this new job!! Imagine asking for time off to go to see your doctor or something important like seeing someone at your bank. Imagine being late for work as you were so tired you woke up late or had a bad night with LL. Imagine what your new work colleagues would start to think of you!! Imagine maybe not being able to concentrate fully because worries at home crept up on you in your new job!! Imagine not being able to grasp fully how to do something in your new job because you were having a real tired/bad day. Imagine your new work colleagues thinking that you were not pulling your weight work wise. etc. etc. etc.

Seriously think about this Levi and I am sure you will agree that for the next year or two you are better off where you are working at the moment!! Your boss is very supportive as you have shown us!! You probably know your job like the back of your hand so can manage it whilst tired!! You have a routine with LL and getting him to school and getting yourself to work on time!! You obviously like your job as you would have left for another job long ago!!

I think you will find although the other job would have brought in more of an income for you and helped you conquer your debts sooner. I truly believe that there was a very good reason that you did not even get an interview for the job. Had you got an interview I feel you would have built your hopes up even more about the job. So probably better that you know now rather than later. Also being at home this week when getting the bad news was much better for you that if you were working this week. Plus being at home with LL at the time of the sad news about your cat!! You were meant to be at home this week!!

Things do happen for a reason Levi I truly believe that. And I truly believe it was not the right time for you and a new job!! So carry on being a great dad, carry on with the job that is paying off a little of your debt each month!! And carry on posting because we would all miss you if you didn't!!!

    All the best to you!!!

  • Hi Levi, just popping in to agree with what has already been posted. Everything is as it should be and you're doing great.:T
Great idea about the collage of the old puss. Although this will be very sad for him and you it can also be very cathartic, laughing at funny times and remembering puss when he was healthy. I'm the worst I fall apart every time one of our cats dies:o You are teaching LL so many great life lessons. Loss and how to deal with those emotions and feelings will stand him in good stead as he grows up. X SP

I think the collage is a good idea. It will remind LL of the happy times with the cat. It may make him upset, but it will be a good opportunity to talk about the cat with you and you can tell him that you are sad too, and will miss the cat etc. Find the best pictures, have a laugh remembering, have a hug remembering, and explain that the cat isn't sad/hurting/etc anymore and you will always have the nice memories.

I think doing it whilst he is not at school and you have the weekend to calm him down is the best idea. Then when you can, you can get the print made up, but the collage can go up until that time so it can always be seen.

Oh my goodness, I [STRIKE]WANT[/STRIKE] NEED an Arnold pig in my life!!!!

Hope LL passes the health visitor MOT with flying colours Levi.
My little man was poorly as a baby, and drinking/eating was really painful for him. He's fine now, but is an extremely fussy eater which stems from this, so our poor health visitor used to tear her hair out with him, suggesting ways to get him to eat - she underestimated the will of a 2/3 year old!:rotfl:

The collage sounds like a lovely idea - expect a PM shortly... ;)
