When I was at school we always just rammed seeds in pots with our name on a label on the pot and then off we went having a competition to grow the biggest one. Our schoolyard always had a creepy wall of giant sunflowers looking over the fence at the neighbours!!
Yay for payday. Mine too but I got a bonus so no idea what my normal pay packet looks like and about to slice £80 off next months by calling in sick tomorrowah well, guess I will find out in June then...
Work sounds incredibly hard and frustrating. I also cannot believe they let you turn up to find out it was cancelled. I would be kicking off big-time and billing them!
Hope you get a good night. I love the elephunks. xxx

Oh no, hope you are OK Lilt? x
The mini sunflowers look good actually.. might try and convince him they are the way to go. MeandO.. lol..I don't fancy being competitive with him- he is a 'bad sport' and can't take competition as FUN.. I was just like that at his age.. board games flipped over when I realised I couldn't win.. that kind of thing.. awful child.. he might outgrow it.. I did but I am very much still a terrier as Mars noticed heh heh x- on a mission to be debt-free by the end of 2017 -

I know Lidl sell cheap packets of veg seeds. Perhaps they may have sunflower ones, too. Worth a look.
Worth planting a few in case one or two fall by the wayside.
He might enjoy growing something you can both eat, too. Radishes & lettuce are both fairly easy, as are beans (french or runner). Could even save you a few bob into the bargain!0 -
I would say just try and get a few seed from Freecycle. Just put a short wanted post on there and say a radius of x miles to your home address so you don't have to travel too far to pick them up. Also add to your post that you need a few plant pots to start them off and a handful of compost. Mention in your post they are for LL and I am sure you will be offered a few seeds!!! That way you will save the pennies for something else. When they have grown just keep one of the heads and dry it out somewhere. Then you will be able to remove the seeds and use them for the next year and also offer some on Freecycle yourself. If you definitely want small sunflowers, one of the prettiest and best is Irish Eyes as you get about 12 sunflower heads on one plant. There is also another called Teddy Bears or something that have many heads. I think they are aimed at children but are the same as Irish Eyes. Hope that is of some help!!

Loving the gardener's corner advice from everyone and now intrigued about all of these different types of sunflowers.. including the many-headed ones! Am off to google...
Hope work is better today Levi. Don't forget it's hump day, regardless, so it'll soon be the weekend.
Much love

Hi Levi
Just found "Irish eyes" dwarf sunflower seeds on Fleabay for £1.24 + 85p P&P. Good price!! These can be grown in containers. You could get a couple of containers from Freecycle if you put a wanted add on there and have a bit of fun with the project for just over £2.
Happy planting everyone!!!
