Based on conversations with people at work my salary is likely to fall by 20% providing I am lucky enough to keep my job.

I was supposed to be going for a Christmas meal with the gang but I might even have to cancel that. From now on I am only going to spend what I have to.

I will take my niece on her train trip to London/Brighton but that is the last time I spend on a non essential. Grim times but maybe this is a useful exercise and essential lifeskill and it will help me to keep my head above water for the next few years.

Thank goodness it is the weekend. I am going to clean the house, iron, chill, watch telly and then do some work. I have about £5.00 to last me till next Friday. I did go to the shop and treat myself to a big bag of crisps!!!!

I have been watching Britain's Flashiest Families. They all seem to have made money by investing in Burger Bars or doing dodgy modelling photos Yuk!. How very entertaining though. I keep shouting 'you spent how much????!!!!!!' every time they buy anything. lol. Funny how we think some items are essential (in my case clothes) and other things non essential (eg in my case magazines and holidays).

I have just returned from Asda with a huge food shop. Many items were reduced (but only by a pound or so) including plenty of fruit. So i purchased plenty and i even have a few spare bits for my freezer for the next few weeks.

I have been told that the winter is going to be v cold. Blimey i'm cold now and have had the heating on for one hour every day this week!!!!

    What a wimp I am.

Steve just told me about an android box that I can watch films on from fleabay. This is good as I wont have to go to the pictures I have never bought one of these before but all my friends have them. I charging it to my credit card. I don't care if it is spending money as it is an investment so I shan't have to go to the cinema again. I have also used 20% off Fleabay code when you spend over £20 that is in the Daily Mirror newspaper saving £10.

Half term starts tomorrow. Hurrah. Much work to do but it will be nice to do it at home. I have a visit to Brighton with niece (only paying train fare and taking sandwiches to save money) and a visit to a sick friend.

Welcome back from hols Stereochild. How was the holiday?

I am pretty broke too but still spending money although I do regret it a bit. We have to live though don't we otherwise we'd get down. Now we have something to show for our hard work.

I will save like crazy next month to make up for it.

Oh just like you, I will be saving like crazy for a couple of months. Also just done my taxes for the last year - I am self employed and now need to save up to pay that off at the end of January.
I have spent some of my EF so that needs to replenished.
I enjoyed my trip to Spain - mostly because I was able to spend time with my god children. Did get to Gibraltar which was somewhere I had wanted to visit.
Did a little shopping!!! ;) And found a wonderful quilting shop very close to where we were staying...... may go back :D

Gibraltar wow glad you had a fab time.

Guess who has a cold? Legs, throat, arms, head hurt. I have spent most of the day in bed. The advantage is that I haven't spent any money.

Luckily there has been a fair bit on tv which I have been watching. :D

The weather has been v temperamental. V rainy and nippy. I have had to put the heating on.

One week till payday. I am spending my Christmas fund this week to sort out birthday trip to Brighton for my nieces and their friends. Then I will only have my emergency/kitchen fund.

I am starting to get scared if I lose my job I wont be able to do anything like this again. How on earth are people coping in this economy?

Tomorrow I am going to focus on getting better and maybe doing some ironing.

  • What a lovely Sunday!

How is the ironing going Savingwannabe?

Hope your trip to Brighton has weather like today. When are you off?

Today I must sort out my Tax records for the year, 2015/16 and do a written budget for the next three months. Dave Ramsey says to 'name ever dollar' or in our case pound. I like to round things up - I am sure that is sort of the same. It is nicer to see a few pounds more in the account than want is needed.

The bank I have my current account with is asking me for proof of who I am and proof of my address. Now the latter I can understand but 'proof of who I am'? That is a little strange as I have been banking with them for the last five years?
    What do you think?? :undecided

Guess who has been in bed for days and days? I am feeling better but am cancelling Brighton as I have puked, have no energy and no voice and an upset tummy.

Stereochild does that mean they have taken your money without checking you are legit? Hey are you in the Mafeeeya (it wont let me say the proper word?) lol. Silly banks, too big to care about the upset they cause. Bet the owners would be furious with them.
