I just came back, i couldnt leave Andy there on his own so stayed for two days as he is being strong (had to get underwear but luckily i had spare medication in my bag!!!) but has had so many things to do to plan the funeral and let everyone know. I have spent quite a bit but this is an emergency and am sure i can cover it from savings.

I have a big pile of marking to do so will wake up early tomorrow. I am v tired as blood sugars fell on way back so am going to have a nap and catch up.

Andy will appreciate your support and company. Next visit take spares with you just in case you stay over, better to be prepared.
It is an emergency and you wouldn't want to scrimp when you can cover it. In time your fund will get replenished.

Rest up, eat something quick and easy, have an early night and hopefully you'll feel refreshed tomorrow.

You're not fat! I blame the silly sizes some shops have as they're not standard.

If you're interested in better interest paying accounts look on the savings board as there's a long running thread where the first few posts get updated each week. Alternatively, I can message you a few details. Have you dipped your toe into a stocks and shares ISA yet? I only put £15pm into mine due to focusing on the mortgage.

Maybe start with better savings accounts for this year then look at an S&S ISA in the next tax year, when things are more settled for you.

i havent looked at the banking thread in a while, the interest rates are all rubbish i thought i do pop on there sometimes though as i did change current account over the years.

Today i am about to do a week's worth of marking and if i can some tidying. Then i have to take my new trousers up. I do hope i can do it all before we go back to work tomorrow.

    Glad the trousers fit.

This is definitely a situation that is not the norm. It's good you have funds you can use.

Hope you are doing OK. I appreciate you are supporting your friend but do try to take a little bit of time for you x

Have you stopped to eat and have a brew? That's a lot of work for a Sunday!

I've dropped you a message with the savings thread I mentioned before. There should be a couple of accounts worth using for cash savings. Investments can be looked at another time.
