My fleabay auctions have just finished, boohoo no one's bought anything from me! I might relist in a few weeks at the next payday as that is when everyone is feeling flush.

I have been working since 8am this morning solidly. Now a bit of a break is in order. The weather has been dry today but a bit too windy to do my work outside.

I am wondering whether I should get a job in the summer hols to bring in more money? I used to when I was younger. Having said that it will be nice to rest. I am going to tidy out parts of my house too. I am v busy at work but I am so grateful to have a job. It is so stressful thinking that I may lose it. Maybe it has always been like this but I have never been so worried for a long time.

According to the newspapers the economy is in recovery. I don't feel like it. I do appreciate the increase in tax allowance - I am better off by £27 a month but the bills are still so high.

I really have cut my spending down. I don't really go out any more at weekends (when I used to socialise a lot) I just cant afford it as I am squirrelling away at my mortgage in case the situation gets worse. How do people cope with this?

    This is my latest SOA:

    Incomings are:
    £1665 wages
    £19 on fleabay.
    £5.00 from bank account

    Outgoings:
    Mortgage £825
Bills £350 ( I am going to reduce this by about £20 hopefully when I cancel my basic cable although I am on a good deal)
Christmas and kitchen fund £75 (Currently I have £500 saved up that I can access in one years time)
Credit Card £60-100 now only used for urgent things. no more frivolous spends
    Cash:
    Food £100
Spending £70 including transport & mobile (but sometimes I have to over spend for hospital visits).

Anything left over goes into savings fund and or mortgage overpayment.

I think you are doing amazing hun. Maybe a little part time work in the holidays - just 2 4 hour days or something like that, so income in but not overdoing it, I know you have health issues.

Well done on doing so well with cutting down.

Why not pop over here and have a read of some ideas?

It is manic at work at the moment. Doing almost 18 hour days. Roll on summer hols.

Thank goodness for the weekend. I have not spent all of my £10 on work snacks this week and i have some left over!!!!

The worst of it will be over at the beginning of next week and then I shall count down the days to the summer holiday. The days are getting brighter and I am so chuffed I have made it through a v difficult year.

I have been working all day but am nowhere near finishing. Just clicked on fleabay and saw that I have made a sale of £8.99. I hope they pay up soon! It was a nice surprise as I thought I'd closed all my auctions due to lack of interest. :j

Weather is glorious! Roll on summer hols. Hope I still have a job we will hear soon I think.

Morning. Been up since 6 doing work. A busy day ahead. Sun is shining but it is rather chilly outside. Had visitors to relieve the boredom of work thank goodness, feel v happy.

Fleabay person has paid me £12.29!!!!! Going into savings asap.

Just rang Virgin to give them one month's notice I want to cancel account but the cancellations departmen is closed on a Sunday! This pretty much is my only luxury but needs must in this economic climate.

It has been a frantic few weeks at work let's just say I had my tipping point yesterday and really had had enough. Nearly the end now. Officially it is the holiday but I have to go in to do some things. I am going to chill completely in the summer hols.

I haven't done anything much or spent any money other than on food so am feeling quite chuffed with myself as anything left over will be in kitchen fund.

Weather glorious, birds tweeting in garden just like the beginning of Rhubarb and Custard. Long may it last. Heard sad news that the actor who played Benny Green who was in Grange Hill has passed away, RIP poor man I hope he is at peace now. I am taking today off from work and will watch Eurovision.

Eureka!!!!!!I have just read a fab post on a thread (average amount of savings for a thirty year old) on this forum where jonmknight mentioned that he had long term, medium term and short term savings. What a fab idea. Must use this as I have put all savings into kitchen fund (medium term) barring £200 which I have raised this month and these are now in my short term savings for hols and birthdays/Christmas.
