Captain_Leaky wrote: »What caused me concern was the fact stated in the program that Hospital Trusts of all people, are giving back all of the revenue to the PPCs. When the media bleats on about A&E and other shortages in the supposedly cash-strapped NHS, surely the hospitals would be keeping the money? Just what is a tax payer-funded Public Sector organization doing by funding these people?
Typically, a company such as PE will tender for a NHS Hospital contract on the basis that at no charge to the Trust, they will install all the equipment, cameras, pay machines etc.
The usual arrangement is then that the Trust retains all the pay & display revenue, while PE keep the money from paid parking charge notices.
This model provides a clear incentive for PE to issue as many fake fines as possible, first to recoup their outlay, and then to make a profit. Exactly the sort of thing which contravenes the Dept. of Health guidelines, and which Patrick Trouserfire said on TV that he wants evidence of to investigate.
Expect to see an announcement later today that PE have been kicked out of the BPA, and suspended from keeper data access by the DVLA. In your dreams.

Simple question. Do any DVLA staff get paid any additional salary, bonus or promotion in relation to the number of RK records they issue0

It is believed that the big cheeses in the 'Data Sharing' department (aka selling your data to criminals, spivs and chancers at £2.50 a pop), receive bonuses well into four figures on top of their c.£80k pa salaries.

The BPA have posted a response on their blog:
http://www.britishparking.co.uk/Blog/bpa-dispatches-further-insight/763There does seem to be an inability for some motorists to accept the rules. If there were no rules we would have anarchy
Is that the same anarchy we have with parking here in Scotland? Oh... wait .................................... we don't.0 -
Was anyone expecting anything other than a craven and limp wristed response like this from the BPA. It's like trying to claim that it's only one rotten apple but the barrel is still good.
Apparently they represent a bunch of friendly private enforcers (I.e mercenaries) hired to sort out serious evildoers (I.e ordinary people wanting a burger and a paper). Thank god we have them to stave off chaos.
Their response does nothing to address the issue of motorists being faced with having to jump through the hoops of challenging a charge that should have never been issues in the first place.0 -
Nobody is questioning the need for rules . What we question is the rights of the self appointed enforcers to punish those that transgress and profit from it to an enormous degree0

They have, very lazily (edited the CSS to change it to display:none; )
You can make it re-appear with the Element Inspector in Chrome and the form appears, but all the comments will be hidden to anyone that doesn't know how to do this.
I gather from looking at previous articles they've had the comments shown to all until today?Debt Summary:

It's almost like they're trying to defend the indefeasible. Looks like someone on the run. Not someone confident in their position. They must have spent all day on the farm finding enough hay for all the straw men they knocked over.0
