  • Morning all
Thank you for the lists dusty and natty, I'll be in As much as I can. It's half term here as well, I agree about the half term challenge dusty DH has conceded we do need to declutter some but he's a bit of a horder and hangs on to stuff just incase. The lads are worse, DH told DS1 we needed to clear some stuff or we'd end up living in one of those house you see on the horder programmes as we were stuffed to the rafters. DS1s reply, we can still see though the windows so it's not a problem really!
I love snowdrops and am lucky to have quite a few in the front garden, I've promised my mum a few at the end of the growing season so need to remember to lift some then.
Honeybear well done on you local clean up efforts you should be proud of what you've done it does make a difference and people are less likely to litter if the area is clean.
Pigpen hope your back is starting to ease now.
Oh and I finished sewing the edge on my blanket yesterday so it's now all done and ready for the babe to arrive,
Dusty I hope your mum is as well as can be.
LW hope things are well with you, just enjoy your visitors you give them as much pleasure as they give you and the cleaning can be done later.
Need to shift myself as Ds1 needs getting out to work will let DS2 sleep in a bit he came home from his school trip tired then was out all day Saturday with DS1, they went to a concert at the 02 missed the first bus home, so we ended up getting a phone call to pick them up from bus station at3.25AM Sunday morning, bus station is right in middle of town near all the night clubs so they close the road near there at night we ended up parking and walking across to them. It was quite an eye opener seeing how drunk some people manage to get.
Got to try and keep up with the lists this week, knit some baby stuff for a teachers sister who's expecting, do more of retirement cross stitch, take mil Drs, and do some decluttering.

I'm in this week. Thanks for the lists Natty and Dusty

I'm not out till lunch time so should manage to get something done.

GS2 came and did the garden yesterday so that's looking better.
  • Morning everyone

I am in. Lots of paid stuff as ever though so I will do my best.

Dusty just take a big deep breath and fling. The charity shop would love that biscuit tin, maybe just take it somewhere where your gift giver wont come across it.

With the kids memories I found a pretty storage box that fitted nicely on the shelf in my cupboard and decided that everything I wanted to keep had to fit in that one box and the rest had to go. I had kept things like exercise books from primary school which really weren't that special. I do have a little note in very baby handwriting saying I love my mummy which I laminated and now use as a bookmark!

Right, need to move. DH and DS1 are in bed, DS2 is playing on the xbox already. Alright for some.

Me again. Everything done that I planned this morning except dog walking and putting the recycling out. It is pouring with rain here now so instead I've put a washload on and whizzed the hoover round downstairs.

Re decluttering Dusty: as you know I've been doing this as at least one item a day since the new year. I find that if I ask myself what I ultimately want to happen to a particular item of sentimental value it helps to make the decision. For instance I have started to dispose of the love letters that DH sent me during our courtship. I can remember almost every word anyway and as some are naughty but nice, I don't want them falling in to my children's hands. Some things are private.

If however, there is an item passed on from a previous generation which has special memories and meaning I keep it as I know DD or DS will enjoy it too.

Another rule is that if I haven't used something for six months, its not really serving its purpose so can go. I'm getting ruthless.

Right, still an hour before the paid stuff, so I'm going to take a look at Natty's list.

Catch you all later. Oh, and have a great day everyone.

Thanks for the new thread Natty. I'm around this week and only working my main job Tuesday so no excuse for not flying.

Half term challenge is a great idea :-)

I have a few issues with decluttering. My 'I will eb-y it pile' needs to be discarded to the CS or put on eb-y without further procrastination.

Despite regular edits of make up and toiletries I still have too much. I must be ruthless!

We really need to get rid of big volume stuff while DH still has the big car. It's going back at the end of this month. His op is 26th so we've only really got 10 days.

I hope your back pain is better Piggers.

    Thanks for your input.

I've made a start in the kitchen as that stuff on the whole is less sentimental, 6 items in charity box, a good few in the scrap store and recycling bags too plus a few items which just needed binning. Going to do a bit more until 9, lower cuboards and drawers, then have a shower and then do the kithen cleaning.

I've sorted out the cupboard and drawer in the DR and got rid of a few things. I need to do the shelves next and clear the table. The kitchen's just a nightmare - it's full of stuff I don't use. I bought a new food processor because my last one broke and DH had to have pureed food after his op last July. I haven't used it once and DH has been back on normal food for months!

It's just hard to know where to start and that's without all the surface clutter!

  • Morning everyone and thank you for the list Natty.

Pigpen, I sincerely hope you are feeling better, bad backs are a horrible thing.

Well this mornings plans have already failed lol.

Had planned to start on house before paid work this morning, only to get a call from our tenant (who lives next door) and she's somehow managed to lock herself IN the house, so hubby needs to mend back door lock today haha.

However, after getting her out, she came round for morning cuppa and a natter, so hardly anything has got done, and i'm off myself in a bit.

    Todays plans are

Child sitting friends son for the day - he arrived just before 8am - hubby on duty while i'm at work (him and my sons are good kids and no bother) :)
Put second load of washing in before I go.
Make sure next doors back door fixed!!
Another coat on bathroom wall - would like to see this finished tomorrow latest.
    Finish off painting DS1's room
Supervise hubby putting telly up in DS2's room
Start on 'neon' painting in DS2's room
    Do best to complete list.
This afternoon have an interview for another little part time job.
Few more items to be put on eb*y

On another note, finally bought myself a slow cooker, and cooked joint of pork in it yesterday. To be honest, found it a bit dry, am I going wrong somewhere, any tips anyone?
Loving life to the full, just need purse full too :)

    Morning all.

Thanks to Natty for the new thread and to Dusty for last week's.

Happy half term to all who have DC/DGC off school this week or are themselves not working; commiserations to those who had their break last week and are back to the full timetable this week - or should it be the other way around? I know I used to breathe a sigh of relief when we all went back to the normal routine!

Hope your back is not so painful now, pigpen, but if it is, hie thee to a quack, pronto!
Congratulations on your wombling, HB. Great Uncle Bulgaria would be proud of you.
Well done on finishing the shawl, mrs-mp. Which will arrive first, I wonder, your DGC or mine? If my DGC6 is a girl, I shall give her the christening robe that my mother made by hand for my DD. DGD1+2 have not been baptised, so it's lain in a drawer for nearly 40 years, but I don't know what to do with it if DGC6 is another boy.
Jazee, I threw out my old love letters from my Ex many years ago, and DH is not a writer, so I haven't got any embarassing notes hidden away, but I like your idea "I find that if I ask myself what I ultimately want to happen to a particular item of sentimental value it helps to make the decision. " Though it still doesn't help if DGC6 is not a girl.... Perhaps I'll just give the robe to DGD1+2 for dressing up their teddies - that's what happened to my own christening robe, and at least someone would love it. There, decision made!

In the past 3 days I have managed to check and update two identical resource boxes and laminate all the sets of cards so that they last better, plus I've got the bits to update the box that my colleague keeps at her house. Still 4 more sets of boxes to do, but it's a leap forward :)

Must go and eat breakfast and then get ready for 2 big meetings later, plus some essential flying and a visit to my friend.

(((Hugs))), spoons and sticks all round, as needed x
