I'm guessing the person in the queue behind you apreciates this.....0 -

The contract is formed when both parties are committed.
Clearly the customer is committed when he puts his money in the machine. To then present the customer with a piece of paper with extra conditions on it is not allowed.
p.s. I've PMd a board guide to ask if this thread can be moved to the Consumer Rights board.0 -

looked at the Coinstar machine at my local Asda this morning, could not see anything written on the machine itself , but on the actual screen a notice did appear to say that a voucher could only be used in this store and must be used the same day as printed0

I know now there is a statement on the machine that says 'redeem today' but to me it reads more like a 'hey - you don't have to wait for your cash you can get it right now!' type notice rather than a 'you MUST redeem this voucher today or we get to keep all your cash' type of notice.
It is also, apparently, down to the stores where the machines are located to decide what the time frame it will cash vouchers in.
Its the scale of the penalty that I find shocking - to take a 'oopps gottcha' approach and take the lot! really!?0 -

Well here's something I never thought of...I've just been mailed and told supermarkets insist on it being cashed on the same day so that its easier for them to match up the ticket with the person who cashed it in on their CCTV cameras when investigating money laundering/counterfeit coins...?!0

Money laundering using a Coin Star?? I guess if the average criminal is paid in two pence pieces for his drugs, sure.."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0
