I'm having a lovely time off, catching up on stuff but also making sure I'm recharging my batteries. I'm so busy and exhausted when I'm working (out of the house 7am-7pm
) so it's nice to have all this time to myself
Not done much with the kids this week, but we went away last weekend which was brilliant so I think a quiet week won't do them any harm!
Finances wise we are not doing so well.. We over spend at our weekend away (or more accurately didn't budget anything for it oops) and I also had dentist costs... I could really really do with some new glasses too but have no money and my lenses are so expensive!
The moral of the story is that I have to handle yearly costs a lot better! I need a proper budget for the summer costs and other annual costs.. But I just get carried away and want to throw everything at the debt. On my list today is to sort out my budget properly!
On a positive note I have reviewed a couple more direct debits and have cancelled an old insurance policy, and there is another insurance policy that I will cancel come December0 -
Did you sort out your budget? Yearly costs are a bit hit and miss here too. I have a pot for Christmas, the car, and insurance but that's it.. Glad you're recharging a bit xLBM 1st Feb 2015 £18182 to go

Hi guys! Payday and I'm back to being MSE :money:
I have done my new budgets and annual costs so will start putting money away for those each month! It is so tempting to just throw it at the debt though.. But it will be better in the long run, also everytime I see money in my bank acc I feel like I cannot leave it be, so I will start putting it away in a separate account out of sight!
I have started a payment a day.. First PAD is 6.47, I will be keeping track of it in my sig (moving to savings) and then do the over payment once a week and update my posts more regularly
In other news, it's my DS birthday soon and I have all his pressies ready, if you remember I used the tesco boost vouchers and the £25 ebay voucher so it's all sorted he has about 8 really good pressies! The only thing left to buy is some wrapping paper, card and a cake. He is not very interested in having a party at the moment (luckily for me) so we will have a family gathering at home so no major expense.

Oh oh oh
I've been miscalculating the car loan, hubby called up today to find out exactly when the last payment is (it's in his name) and after September payment which due to come out shortly there is only one more.. So since Ive updated the sig to reflect September payments already I need to take 204 off leaving just one last payment in early October wooooo
PAD a day is £3.07 today0 -

Hey. Just subscribed! Havent had chance to read through everything, but seems you're in a similar situation to me. The lightbulb moment when you realise you dont want to be in debt after a certain age. I went through all my bills, cut what I could and am now so focussed on getting rid of it. I built it up over about 4 years, mainly a result of buying TVs, laptops holidays and furniture etc. My Mom also isnt the best at managing money and it sounds bad, but dont want to get to 50+ and still be drowning in debt.
Im only focussing on my own debt for now, that's high enough at £16k, and once I've made a decent dent in it will help my partner clear his. We're in it together I guess after 6 years together already - will be nice for us both to be able to enjoy the bulk of our incomes instead of paying of a mountain of debt!
You've made really good progress so hope to follow in your footstepsDebt: £9,750/[STRIKE] £27,000[/STRIKE] loan - monthly payments of £450. Overpaying £850 a month.0 -
My time off is going so fast! Cant believe September is next week and it's back to work and school booo... But in a way it will be nice to get back to our routines.. I just want maybe one more week off
My payment a day is mounting up nicely and I will pay that towards CC on Monday :money:
I'm also looking into ppi.. Not 100% sure I'm owed anything but worth a try especially as I heard they are bring in a deadline :money:
I took the kids to the cinema earlier in the week (it's been raining non stop here!) But as today is such a lovely day we went on a little (free woohoo) adventure to a wonderful country park this morning! And we took a picnic. Such beautiful forest and countryside :cool:0 -
Today's PAD £5 bringing the total for the week to £30.12 :T
I'm paying off £30 of the credit card (decided to do whole pounds only lol) and will start again on Monday for week 20 -
Looking good on the PAD front DFB350
