You are doing so well. Just try and think about what you have achieved since you had your lightbulb.
I think it is so hard to save anything in the school holidays. In Ireland the kids finish up the end of June until the 1st September so even longer to try and occupy them and save a bit.

All the bills now come out and we are in ok shape to last us the rest of the month.
However I have majorly fallen off the saving wagon as do spend little bits here and there and it's all adding up argh! I will need to start again from next months salary..
It was fun to have this month off but it simply cannot continue and I'm finding that I'm not really enjoying the relative freedom to spend as I feel anxious and guilty. And I've not felt anxious for a good few months prior!
I feel like I cannot salvage the rest of this month now and the best we can hope for is not to get overdrawn. I'm going to do a spending budgeting diary to see us through to the next payday.
I will start back with extra determination and I'm going to do the payment a day challenge (PAD) to see me back on track.
Hope everyone is having a good MSE summer!0 -
I am also going to do a better budget, with allowance for holiday and yearly spends. This is something I have struggled with in the past but I have finally come to realisation that I need to have something budgeted for school holidays/ uniform and even family days out/ holiday/ christmas/ birthday/ car MOT.. etc.. There is no point in burying your head in the sand on these as they do come round once a year
I actually have a YNAB app which I really must start doing! I cant even explain why i havent been using it and been lax with it.. I think im the type of person who just likes to go with the flow and also quite impulsive...
But I already feel like getting back on the savings wagon and miss the rewarding feeling i have once i make an over payment. But I will still allow myself and my family treats.. so it will be serious debt busting but with some changes and adjustments.
and the payment a day - this will encourage me to post every SINGLE day haha I bet you will enjoy reading that
This all starts on pay day from 24th of August .. so just over two weeks to go.. But meanwhile I am already reining in the spending, however we do have a few days out with kids coming up so i will see what I can do. But next year all these will be properly budgeted for!0 -

I managed to rein in the spending and now feel a lot better and back in control. Its funny how this is affecting me and impacting my moods! But i think it is a good thing as if I didnt care I would be soon spiraling back into further over spending.
About a week and a half until payday and for next week I am planning a MEGA low spend week.. Im not even doing a food shop order but will be using up whatever i have in the cupboards and decluttering again with the aim to Ebay
I have two weeks off from work and will use it to sort everything in the house/ garden and have mostly free or low cost activities with the kids. I have also booked dentist and some other health checks wooohooo haha I really know how to push the boat outbut I am looking forward to my time off as I really feel that I need a break from work.
I still need to get some last bits of school uniform but that can be done week after as we get paid on the 24th.
And this weekend we are off to chessington for their last spendy treat of this summer so the kids cant really complain that we dont treat them _party_0 -

I have some good news about my annual bonus at work, in order to get it we have to qualify and it depends on targets, performance over the year and company financial results etc... So it's not guaranteed basically..
But the good news I have been told (unofficially by my manager) that I am meeting the targets and qualifyI don't know exactly how much it will be but usually about 1k after tax! :j
This will pay a big chunk of the credit card.. But I will also be sensible and save some towards a holiday/ emergency fund!
This is not for a good few months yet though.. But still fab news :beer:0 -
