    I had a very good week :)

Very busy at work but lots of nice things happened:
    1. My youngest got his end of year school report and it was fantastic, he is above expected level in maths, science, computing and PE :D
    2. I have conquered one of my biggest fears! My work really encourages us to volunteer and give back to the community so a little while ago my team arranged to volunteer at a school to help young people with vital skills (such as cv writing, interview technique etc..). I have signed up but warned them that I will only be there to help out and distribute leaflets, talk to the students one on one or small groups (as I have a real fear of public speaking)... Anyways this activity day has fallen on a tube strike day so I had to take over and do an intro to a CV workshop and basically help run it, this involved speaking in front of 60 17 year olds!!! Omg I don't know how I did it but I did and the students were so good bless them I think I got as much out of this work shop as them ;)
    3. My boss has given us £25 encore award which I haven't decided what to spend on..... And we had free drinks last night to say thank you
    4. My £25 voucher came through ebay and I've used it to buy the main pressie for my son (vtech kiddi zoom touch screen watch)
    5. I have managed to get our food shop for next week for £26 wooooo.... But had meat in the freezer already ;)

So I'm Happy and in a good mood. After this weekend we will have one more weekend before payday. I have set up a pool in the garden for the kids so it will be a NSD weekender (I still have cider and kids have ice cream from last week yay!)

Also had my mortgage statement through, current balance is 154k I literally cannot wait to be rid of the debt so I can start overpaying this.. Something to aim for :A

Next week we will have 40 days since my nan has gone, I still can't quite believe it I think, but I'm glad that hopefully she is watching over us and can see that we are doing well and that we are getting on with life. She would have liked that a lot Xxx

Its only Wednesday but im already looking forward to the weekend! It will be a low spend weekend but i have a few plans :)

Firstly I am working from home on friday as my DS has a sports day, I will also catch up with a friend who recently had a baby aww.

Saturday DS has a football presentation/ party - the tickets have been bought already and all i will need to do is take some food/ drink with me.

Sunday Im taking my DD horse riding as usual but this time DS is coming along and will try a half hour session! Im really excited about it haha! I dont think he will take it up as a hobby but still it will be a nice experience for him and fun to try!

I have been also thinking ahead and how much spending money we will need for kids school holidays/ uniform and other bits and bobs next month to try and decide how big an overpayment I will be able to make :D

Over a week until payday and Im feeling very skint :)

    Evening DFB,

Sounds like you've been very busy just recently!! Sorry you had trouble with Ebay but glad its now resolved. Ive had Ebay troubles over the last year or so and I now won't use it anymore. There just seems to be no protection for buyers.

Have a lovely evening at DS's football presentation xx

Hiya what a fabby weekend :D

Friday was great being there for DS sports day and to see my friends new baby awwwww so cute! I don't know sometimes I do still think about having another... But other times when kids are driving me mad I think no way... hahaha!

The football presentation was very good, all the kids had so much fun and were so proud of themselves! And we parents so proud of them! I'm so happy that my DS has an interest outside school and another group of very good friends. Also hubby became very friendly with the dads as he's the one who takes DS the most.. So once it finished I took the kids home and left the men behind... Hubby didn't roll in until past midnight hehe ;)

And today I did horseriding! I don't normally ride as its too expensive to pay for me and DD, but my DD hurt her leg at school (nothing serious) so I took her place so not to waste the money. It was only the second time I rode as an adult but it comes back quite quickly and it helped that my horse was lovely and patient with me aww!

After my lesson and a quick lunch it was DSs turn to have his very first riding experience! He did really well, even managing a rising trot towards the end. His football will always come first but I think it be nice for him to have some riding experience as well, maybe once a month or so.

I'm really tired and achy now and just chilling out. Payday next week but unfortunately only minimal payments this month! However we will see how we get on :money:

It's been awhile since I last revisited all my bills and direct debits as they are now at their cheapest. But I had been waiting to finish my mobile phone contract so I can cut if off (my work has provided me with a phone) and finally that time has come and I've paid my last mobile bill woohoo! I'm encoraging hubby to do the same! I hardly ever use my phone and some light personal usage is allowed to us so why not?! ;)

Another thing I took out a season ticket loan from work to spread the cost of my monthly travel. This will save me about £20 a month as I can buy annual travelcard instead of monthly :money:

I've had season ticket before but for some reason couldn't be bothered to apply when it run out and just kept buying monthly doh..

Come on Friday payday hurry up so I can update my totals :o

Not posted here for a little while and Im afraid i have fallen off the money saving wagon a little :(

I knew school holidays would be difficult but we spent loads already less than a week in! I will reign it in but just feel like the money is slipping from my fingers right now. There will definitely be no over payments this month or possibly the next month too. I have to be realistic about it..

On the positive side I have bought most of the school uniform (still some to buy but at least the expensive school- branded stuff is done) and its only 3 more payments left on the car loan.

On the negative I really dont think I will clear the CC by Christmas. I was feeling very low about it so have adjusted my signature to reflect what we HAVE paid off so far since February and to try and focus on not adding any more debt.

Also we have decided that the money freed up from the car loan will go into a holiday fund to enable us to go away next year. I am battling mentally with that decision as was so focused on the debt repayments but at the same time I think we need to live a little as well and enjoy ourselves.

I feel bad admitting all of that :o

I have been panicking and having a lot of intrusive thoughts about spending and being constantly worried about overpayments and paying off debt.

I have decided to put things into perspective for my own sake. Even if I have this 2 month break from overpayments as long as i dont overspend and get into more debt it is ok and to come back fighting in September.

Hi DFB35, I must say I can completely empathise, I've been feeling very similar to you over the last few days. Sometimes it's easy to lose perspective on stuff. This forum is a bit of a lifeline for me in that respect. I hope you enjoy your summer, and like you say, as long as you don't add to the debt there's no reason to beat yourself up

I'm going through the same thought process at the moment. Life just feels a little short to chuck all available money at debt. Need to live a little. especially during the summer x
