Overpayment of £40 to CC and £300 to annual bills/emergency fund savings
Hoping for a very MSE month :money:0 -
Done weekly shop at Aldis last night and was totally converted! I know I know we should have swapped ages ago, being over a year into my MSE ways.. But we work such long hours last thing we want to do is an hour food shop so have been getting tesco delivery for convenience...
Still there's a brand new Aldis opened just down the road from us so it would really be a shame not to try it! So I bit the bullet took the kids () so they can pick stuff they want to substitute their usual brands (they can be picky!) and we did our weekly shop.
Once I got home I have entered exactly/as close as possible to what we buy in tesco and it was £38 cheaper and we treated ourselves to a few extra bits (this won't happen each week - we got big piece of beef for roast dinner on Sunday!) Also the kids were really on board with it all and made healthy dinner suggestions (and were well behaved/helpful so it wasn't as bad as I though it be lol). All in all spend just over £60 but got loads of food! Next week if I only buy essentials I can get it for half that I'm sure:money:

I'm having a lovely weekend here
Just came back from daughters horse riding, unfortunately we had to cut horse riding to every other week (not each week). We really didn't want to have to do it but at £22 per lesson it's a major cost. Also we are paying £500 () for a week long residential school trip to France (so expensive argh!!!) and not to mention weekly "muuuuuum can I have £10 it's my friends birthday/I'm going cinema/ bowling/ shopping".... Etc etc. so me and hubby got together and decided to it was fair to cut her horse riding! And I'm hoping it will make her appreciate it more!
Did a lot of baking yesterday, brownies and an apple and raspberry pie.. However I'm not convinced it's money savings.. I got all ingredients from Aldis and ice cream came to £10 plus the gas use I'm sure it be cheaper to buy... But we enjoyed it and have flour/sugar left do should be cheaper next time
Waiting for family to arrive any minute for a lovely beef roast and home made dessert after ahhhh :A0 -
Second weekly shop at Aldis came in at £53
looking at my receipt we could bring it down even further if need be but allowed ourselves a few "luxuries" (non essential stuff
)
But c. £50 a week for a family of 4 is very good in my opinion! The things we liked best from our last week shop were - the roast beef yum! I 100% recommend it! It was biiiig and didn't shrink too much while cooking, cut very nicely too and just was very flavoursome! Fed 4 adults and two kids plus has leftovers for 2 big baguette sandwiches.
Sausages - they were 89p and very good
Frozen stone baked double pepperoni pizza - very very nice and lovely tomato base 89p
Bacon medallions, I normally find bacon too salty, this one was perfect £1.65
Chicken breast it was 1kg for £5 something
Kids liked baked beans and cereal and crisps
Ooh Brie cheese that was fab for 99p
And part baked bread baguettes two in a pack for 45p
I'm sure there's more but that's what springs to mind! We still have a few things to try from last weeks shop and bought pulled pork and ribs to try for next week (amongst other things 99p cheesecake mmmmm). I will let you know how we get on.
Must mention one thing I didn't like - fajita kit, we normally get ol del paso but tried Aldis version and didn't like it. The spices were different and the salsa, still it was about half the cost and we ate it so not a waste exactly.
Also I don't think I've mentioned it but we kinda acquired a cat, this was awhile ago now... And normally fed it Felix, tried her on Aldis food and the cat can't get enough! Preferred it to felix I would say (she also gets higher protein content dry food as I know commercial foods aren't great but that's what she was used to) :money:

I really want to lose some weight but can't get motivated! The problem is I hate excersising and I love eating haha :rotfl:
Funny thing is I used to be so skinny! Too skinny to be exact a size 6, then had two kids and now have a tummy that folds when I sit down and thighs, the rest of me is ok I think... I've not weighted myself for awhile but my clothes are getting tight and bulgy and I also have painful cellulite on my thighs
I'm only size 12 on bottom but having been skinny I really want to get back in shape! Just need to get motivated. Also I read that in your twenties / early thirties supposedly it is easy to lose weight! Yeah right! I'm in early thirties but feel like I'm getting fatter and fatter.... God knows what I will be in late thirties etc.. If I'm finding it hard to lose weight now?!!
I thought that maybe I will take measurements and weigh myself and then keep track of it in my diary to keep me motivated. I recon I'm 10st something but it's the shape that is more of a problem. Want flatter tummy and smaller thighs!
Off to get myself weighed and measured and then decide on targets :eek:0 -
It's a bit worse than I thought.. I'm just under 11st. I know that's not horrendous for my height of 5'7 but with my build I recon I carry about stone and a half extra...
Just to give you some comparison, I was about 8.5st after I had my daughter then crept up to 9st and was about 9.5st after I had my son... So in the past 7 years I've gained that extra stone and a half.
I don't even think I'd mind if it was equally spread but it seem to concentrate around my middle and thighs and sometimes I actually look pregnant
Ok so my first target is to get back to 10st - see how I feel then as I think that would be my ideal weight and I'd be kidding myself to go even lower as I'm not getting any younger haha
So about a stone to lose, I know I need to start exercising and tone up! I used to run before and did some organised runs which was great! But also a starting point would be to cut my portions... Dam but the food taste so good :rotfl:
I will start from Monday0 -
Back to the money saving, this will be completely NSD weekend
I actually been doing very well this month (so far!) and with 13 days until payday feel confident making 100 overpayment. I also have 300 put away towards Christmas. So looking good!
Been chilling today and watched a bit of great British bake off. Then kids wanted to bake a cake and we had all the ingredients left over since last weekend. So it's currently in the ovenwhich is not great for my upcoming diet :rotfl:

Had a lovely Saturday unwinding and a bit of time to myself (hence numerous posts haha).
I have decided the diet starting tomorrow, I have eaten so much today! Seriously overeating... It's feels nice bit I'm so full from dinner I actually have a bit of heartburn and acid. We had pulled pork wraps and spare ribs all from Aldis and very tasty but too much. Conscious of my new plans I only had a teeny weeny piece of cake - but wanted to try it as I've made it from scratch!
I will drastically cut down on food and have unlimited green tea, veg salad for lunch and fish for dinners (and not the battered kind)
Also want to start excersising every other day. Don't know how feasible that will be but I will try!
Also I have been pondering about myself, my moods and feelings and I'm happy to report that it's the happiest I'm feeling since starting the diary! I feel that debts are under control, my spending habits have changed, I'm no longer as anxious as I was. And I seem to be coming out of depression/ people avoidance I've been feeling since last August. On reflection my nans illness and subsequent passing have hit me really really hard, I am still missing her lots and think/dream about her often but everything seems a lot better somehow. I'm feeling a lot more positive.
This change in mood could be due to the fact that we have paid off the car, which was hanging over us for awhile, so maybe that's why I'm feeling so upbeat!
I'm any case I'm not gonna argue with this happy positive feeling and starting my diet tomorrow with a green tea :money:0 -
Thought it was going to be a NSD weekend but has to bail out a family member -£50
I know they would do anything for me.. Just crap with finances but I'm really getting fed up as its like an "unexpected cost" and throws my budget a bit. Also another family member owes me £40!0 -
Im going out with some work collegues tonight, its is strange as in the past i used to go out at least once a week! Now is so few and far in between, i feel like i dont actually want to but "forcing" myself as Im sure i'll enjoy it when im out.
Since starting my journey i kind of developed a sort of "social anxiety" almost, thats the best way i can describe it! But I am feeling better now and need to start getting out there again but obviously being reasonable about it. I think there is such a fine line with spending and obviously alcohol lowers your controls.
These drinks should be free or at least part funded by the bosses btw and should be good to have a catch up and a natter with some.
However it wont help my diet one bit, which is not going very well haha, oh no! Why is it all the good enjoyable things are bad for the diet! Was sharing my weight frustrations with a couple of girls today and one disclosed that she weighs 9 and a half stone ahhhh thats my ambition to get to that0
