Ive been doing so well lately and not had any "bad money spending" thoughts or anything..... up until yesterday!!
Was walking past Mango and really liked a coat in there, also I feel like I really really need some work clothes, just feel frumpy and dishevelled!
I didnt go in, but cant stop thinking about updating my wardrobe
I think the only way out is to give myself an allocated monthly clothes budget (say £25) and then making those purchases once the budget builds up. I darent think how much this coat is or go inside :rotfl:
Buuuuuuuuut kids need stuff too! My daughter, oh my god Im so angry! She lost her expensive jacket AND her hoodie at school all in a matter of a few weeks apart (both were superdry so not cheap - from my non MSE days). She literally has NO WARM clothes! And we checked with school there is no sign of them (possibly stolen, but school brushes under the carpet).
And my son grown out of all but 2 school trousers    he literally almost outgrown all of his clothes!
So I will sort the kids first with the necessary (and definitely NOT superdy!) items and then will have a think about updating mine *sigh*0 -
Busy weekend ahead
well busy for me anyhow!
Will drop the boys to football tomorrow and go to primark for warm clothes for daughter and bits for her upcoming school trip (they need wellies for the trenches, come to think about it I wonder if she can wear horseriding boots? Will ponder on that one). She also needs warm coat, hoody and maybe a new top.
Son needs jeans, another trousers and maybe top and a hoody. Perhaps new scarf and gloves for both.
So very spendy weekend. Then I need to squeeze in all my housework, cleaning etc as I normally do that when boys are at football. However if I go later they will want to come and I'm sure I'll end up spending more! I can stay focussed this way....
Sunday family day and daughters horse ridingI'll be busy cooking and then cleaning after that... Relax in the evenings though!
Budget wise I'm still doing great! Very pleased with this month (fingers crossed nothing comes up now I said it!). Payday end of next week, slightly earlier due to the weekend.
Hoping to save £500 from end of October pay. And with that will have to start on the Christmas presents (should cover majority), feeling a lot better about it as I have £300 already saved, it's a shame but realistically speaking my emergency fund of £2k won't start building up until after christmas!0 -
Also forgot to add with the kids outgrowing clothes etc.. I really need to re organise their rooms, wardrobes and perhaps do another deep clean de clutter. This will add to the usual housework load and keep me busy and out of trouble :rotfl:0

Well Saturday almost over and I feel like I've hardly sat down today! God I sound old haha
Shopping for kids clothes went well and I've stayed on track, and I can honestly hand on heart say all the purchases were necessary for both kids!
While there Ive seen a nice dress for £10 and a jumper for £9 which would be perfect for work for myself but I didnt buy it. As its nearly £20 and I'm sure I can wait a week or two until after payday. The kids stuff couldn't wait as DD goes on her school trip on Friday so really needed a warm coat and clothes (she wears a blazer and school jumper so could get away up until now but the trip is non uniform). and DS doesn't have any trousers that fit him or hoodies!
As the kids don't get clothes that often nowadays both were really appreciative and wearing their new stuff as we speak! Bless them
I also went through their wardrobes and took a black bag full from each for charity. Looking through there were a few good bits which I have also ebayed (well apart from summer stuff which I will do nearer the time). I decided to only bother with the best bits, hardly worn or dressier things.
In other news... This is completely NON MSE!!!! But me and hubby have been talking about an extension... A house extension, this sounds crazy as here I am trying to get rid of debt but talking about taking on 75k plus debt via a remortgage!!
Anyways, this is something we wanted when we bought the house and we have picked this house specifically as it would allow us to do back, side and above garage extension.. After speaking with my bank over the phone they would theoretically lend us 80k (this was just a consultation and nothing is set in stone at this stage)..
This feels like a humongous step and both of us are not 100% sure whether to go for it. One idea is waiting until DS is in secondary this will free up £240 a month childcare fees, pay off the loan which will free up £140 a month. Basically the remortgage will be £500 a month extra to what we paying now. But by then DD will be a lot older and one argument for extension is to give us a second bathroom.
Anyway this decision will not be rushed, we will also talk it over with some money savvy family members. But at the end of the day this will nearly double our mortgage and all it means that we have to work hard/ harder for longer.. Whereas if we don't go for it I want to start thinking about cutting my hours in say 5 years time (which I would not be able to do with extension!).0 -
a little recap from February:
Car loan -£1,632
Loan 1 -£6,812
Loan 2 -10,893
Total £19,337
Now:
Car loan - £816
CC (was Loan 1) - £3,414
Loan 1 (was Loan 2) - £9,793
Total £14,023
£5,314 paid off!! :j :j :j
This feels amazing, also we have not ADDED to our debt which was most important.
Still a long way to go and I do battle with "spendy" thoughts and "I need a holiday" thoughts - but what I have noticed that these are becoming less frequent and when I get them I learned to distract myself better and pay off debt instead.
Keep going :money:
Here is my recap as I haven't done one in awhile :j :j :j

CC1(was loan 1) - £2,000 (this will be paid off with bonus in December) :j

Thank you guys
Ok we have talked and talked things over the extension and also talked with family. The plan is this: we are not saying a definite yes or no, but from January 2016 we will start saving £500 in a separate account, let's call it dream house savings
Meanwhile we will still be very very MSE and work on overpaying our loan, saving for the big annual bills and purchases. I aim to put away £500 a month from now own anyway but realistically will break into it for Christmas and I also want to build up our emergency fund.
As a reminder £200 of this we are used to paying for the car loan so shouldn't miss it and £300 savings which I did this month and I have been saving in the past (or over paying debts) so I know it's doable!
In January 2017 we should have £6k and a better idea whether we want to commit to the extension or not! And if we decide not to commit we will be in a position to pay off loan 1 so in theory a win win situation!
That's the plan anyway0 -
Can't wait until payday 2 days to go......
Will put away £500, well £300 of this will be going towards Christmas presents. I will start buying from pay day, and have a few things in mind already! £200 will be joining my EF savings
I can't wait to see my savings grow and my debts dissapear! I feel really impatient for December bonuses to come and the CC1 to be completely gone! Come on we are so very close, just two more pay days to go... They will officially confirm bonuses next month..
In other news, one of my eBay items has a £2 bid and another has some watchers but nothing yet on the rest of them.0 -
Pay day so amending some totals! £200 to EF savings, £300 towards Christmas so I won't move it as only end up taking it out....
Usual payments to CC and loan, the loan is very nearly in 8xxx's
Two more of my items have bids, but it's only kids clothes so the total won't be huge, maybe £15 if I'm lucky0
