no-fault car crash.... write-off... now what?

Well... I feel sick in my stomach. :-(
I have just discovered that my car was out of MOT ( July 2014 ). I was able to tax it in May, obviously and now... no MOT.
I was filling out forms for transferring my personal reg number.
But I fear that being unable to do that, because of the lack of MOT, is least of my worries!
To transfer the plate off, you need it to have been taxed within the last year. The only MOT requirements are for a pre-60 car (normally MOT exempt) to have a current test if the plate is coming off.
So you'll be fine.0 -
Are you sure adrianC?
The forms all have a box that you must tick to say that you are enclosing the MOT certificate.... which I do not have..... :-S0 -

They want the MOT certificate back so it can be updated with the registration that would be allocated to the vehicle in place of the private plate. That'll happen even if it's about to be crushed.0 -
this is from DVLA site...
You should also include:
the £80 transfer fee (cheque or postal order, payable to DVLA)
the registration certificate or the new keeper supplement with a completed V62 ‘application for a vehicle registration certificate V5C’ for each vehicle
an MOT test certificate (for cars and motorcycles over 3 years old, and heavy goods vehicles over 1 year old) for each vehicle
Unfortunately, even though I understand what you say AdrianC, will they knock me back because I don't have one for my Rover?0 -

I thought the MOT requirement stood and was brought in to prevent trading of plates from rusted out wrecks that hadn't been on the road for years?0

But, yes, that's why pre-'60 cars need an MOT - because they don't need one to get tax.0 -
Well, I think that I will send my stuff and cheque off tomorrow and see what occurs.. what option is there? :-)0

Hi everybody!
I have sent off my 'retention' form for my reg plate....
But more importantly really :-
Its been 9 whole days since the accident and the lorry drivers insurance co have not been notified of the accident by him yet! They only know because I have told MY insurance co ( and they have notified them) that I am fed up of waiting for anything to happen! I have not had a vehicle since the accident, which I need to get to and from work, so I rang MY insurance who told me Enterprise rental would get in touch, which they did within the hour. However Enterprise notified me that because the lorry driver hadn't actually admitted liability ( he hasn't actually notified his insurance of anything! ) they were unable to do anything! !!!!!!!
Now what do I do??
This is ridiculous!0 -

Claim on your own policy.
Buy a new car.
Hire one.
Put it in the hands of an accident management company.
Carry on as you are, you've managed so far.0
