Jeeze LondonTiger, for all we know the lorry driver has been driving for 50 years accident free, now made a mistake resulting in nothing to major. Damn him for being human. We should all be like you - perfect. Hey!
Op - as advised contact his insurer to make your claim first (notify your insurer for info purposes only).
If one of these companies phone you then tell them it's none of their business and stop cold calling.
If injuries develop and you feel a PI claim is appropriate then do your own research and approach a reputable company.0 -
My motor is/was a dark grey colour, hidden nr side of the artic , no 'streetlights' on this stretch so perhaps my car just 'merged' with the colour of road and sky and darkness.... anyways........
I hate the fact that most cars these days are road coloured, lots with chrome to produce a dpm effect. Cyclists are criticised for not wearing hi-viz but most cars are road coloured?0 -
I can see is that my car, a Rover 75 estate, is worth far less than it will cost me to replace a similar vehicle today
It was worth the same as another Rover 75 estate in the same condition, before the accident. That's the basis of your payout, so you should be looking for prices of cars as close to your own, and that's what you should be paid. If their first offer isn't good enough, argue it with them, with your evidence ready.0 -

Have a look here...

they will be able to advise on valuation and help with a replacement if you fancy another.
Good luck with the insurance.I don't like morning people. Or mornings. Or people.0 -
Most brill advice from everyone :-)
As for a replacement estate car, I have searched the Rover Forum but been unsuccessful in finding a fluorescent yellow coloured Rover 75 ! lol
I did contact the lorry drivers insurance co. today and made a claim and then rang mine to advise them of the claim I had made. The lorry drivers insurance co. had not had any contact ( as yet ) from the driver or the firm he works for. MY insurance co. told me to give the others 2 days to respond to me and if they dont call mine back again.
I will ring his insurance again tomorrow about getting a hire car, I cant keep relying on lifts and the wife to carry me around.... :-(0 -
Where are you based?
I know someone with a yellow 75 estate for sale.0 -
Oh Lovely, Spicey! lol
Classy, eh?? lol0 -
from what I have read and understood, if you have legal cover and you are not at fault, you can claim the loss of your no claims bonus, and increased policy premiums for about 5 years too.0
