Coming from the person who admits driving a car where due to its size and his height his visability was severly impared I find quite appalliing.0 -
Thank you for all the 'various' posts! AdrianC and Foxy... very good points especially about the sim card :-)
I am still awaiting the police to call me and then I shall contact the trucks insurance co. Will drag their heals though? I will still contact my insurance as well.... once I have a sim card! ;-)
I have also made a list of extra stuff that my car has ( not standard fittings ) hoping to add a little onto the payout... is this a possibility?
Tow bar etc...that alone was £125 .
Cheers again
any more information from anyone ..... ?0 -
What time was your crash last night?
If it was after 10pm I wouldn't expect a call until then.0 -
Crashing an old car can be real challenge in terms of getting yourself back to the same position.
What I have always done in this situation is work out what I need to get me back to the same position and then ask for a FULL and FINAL SETTLEMENT. If you feel able to deal with hire cars and don't feel you have suffered any major injury this could work well. In my cases I have never had recovery costs etc. Lorry companies can be a pain though and rarely admit liability.
If you can manage a FF Settlement you should be able to get back to where you need to be. I sometimes think that for many Whiplash is the only way they feel they can achieve a fair outcome.0 -
yes Caprikid, I understand that about whiplash, but I walked away totally uninjured... its amazing how these crumple zones and buffers help in such crashes... just amazing- thank goodness!!!! The crash was about 8.15pm... I was just getting interested in the football on the radio! Did Liverpool win?? lol0

For all we know tramlines or holes could have made the lorry move across - OP can correct this by saying if lorry was indicating.
A car with wide front tyres follows the grooves and wanders, try it in a lorry with 385 width front tyres, in some sections where they're building smart motorways you swing left and right like a fairground ride.
OP could have sneaked up the inside of lorry, sometimes happens.
So many people seem happy to sit on the inside of a lorry a few inches away from their side.
I'm sure the OP is the innocent party, but it's not always as clear cut as you make out.0 -

But in this case, no one died, so is a driver losing his licence and livelihood a punishment fitting of the 'crime' of potentially nothing more than driving a vehicle with limited visibility and making a mistake?londonTiger wrote: »Anyway, I think you're one of those trolls who has been banned from MSE and rejoined to keep trolling - pretty sad.

I bet the taxpayers are financing your 18 posts a day habit
Which is irrelevant.
Ironic that you think putting a driver out of work and onto the taxpayers' payroll is a sensible course of action as a result of an RTC.0 -

How very kind of you to give me an excuse to report your post as abusive.
ETA: just for information, I was on the M56, M6, A66, A1, and A1(M) yesterday, not the M1.0 -

Both sitting at 50mph.
Lorry on a calibrated 50mph, car on the speedo so slightly slower. Lorry thinks he's clear when in fact car is in the near side blind spot is my bet.
A classic blindside in reverse.0 -
These 50 stretches are a nightmare with a calibrated speedo, especially when you're only allowed in lane 1; just trapped at 40-45mph.
Wide angle mirror does catch most things, but it can be hard to have a really good look when all the traffic's bunched up and the lanes are narrow and throwing you all over the place.0
