  • Hello Lil

Just finished reading your diary, and well impressed with what you'v'e done in such a short space of time - well done, everything seems to have gone real smooth for you. Can't wait to see the photos - nosey I know, but love to see what can be done in such a short time.

You've had a bit a luck on the way - 3 wins on the PB's !!!! All I can say is you mush have loads and loads of PB's. I have some (bought when I was born) and have never had a win in over 50 years. Seems anybody that wins usually have thousands of them.

Great news about your remortgage, I too have just went into a new deal and can't wait to see what my interest will be - more than half what I was paying.

Good Luck on the very soon move in.

Today i went to price up solid oak floor for down stairs

supplied and fitted 1.6k with thermal underlay and beading
This is very expensive its for around 28sqm but then agine it is solid oak
I was hoping to do all the flooring for under 2k i mean the carpet as well haha !!!

i guess around £600-800 for the carpet so need to rethink the solid oak idea or go for a cheaper one

also had a carpet company round to see what sort of deal they can do me but i went there and they not even worked out how much i need haha amateurs

Does anyone have any solid wood floors and cons with them ?

  • Hi Lucky,

We have solid oak flooring all through the downstairs of our house, which we put in, and we did the same in our last house. Yes, it's expensive, but looks absolutely beautiful in my opinion and wears very well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it - some of the posher laminates we considered weren't much cheaper than solid oak!

i can get it a fair bit cheaper by ordering it online and then getting someone to fit it
as you say some laminates are just as expensive as solid wood
Plus iv lived with carpet all my life in my place now so fancy a change haha

Wow, thanks for giving us your estimate for solid oak flooring. I'd like solid oak flooring too...but it won't be yet for a couple of years-I need to get the mortgage down and the savings up first.
You're doing really well, well done on the extra income! :j :j :j
