Motorists, have you removed your paper tax disc from your windscreen yet?

  • Yes, I've taken it off
Took them off all 4 cars on the first day that I could - car windows are made out of transparent glass so that you can see through them, not cover them with unnecessary clutter!

As for remembering when the VED is due, there must be hundreds of programmes for PCs and smartphones that can store diary reminders (personally, I use Microsoft Outlook on my PC).

    HAve I missed something?

    What's a tax disc?

Was it that scrunched up bit of paper I used to find in the windscreens of cars I have bought?

[At last, I can get rid of that ridiculous plastic, so-called 'waterproof' disc holder, that would make any official document totally illegible inside 3 weeks.....]

I want to know, how am I supposed to remember the RAC's phone number, if I don't receive any of these tax discs any more?

Oh well, 'spose I'll have to fix the darned motor meself again?

Whilst on the subject of VED[tax].....our local con-stab-oolery are having issues with their in-car compooters.....which tells them every car they see is untaxed!

[Got 'stopped' yesterday for just that....of course, the car was taxed, as they discovered.....just that their compy hadn't managed to update itself recently [at least 6 weeks behind, in my case]....poor sods, much embarrassed....still, a couple of car drivers tried to wipe each other out at that time, on a busy main road not too far away...so they had their attention diverted....

Hey, I like this month-by-month direct debit system......and if [as I had done with another vehicle] one decides to SORN...even if the next month's tax is taken, it is repaid back into the account quite quickly.
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......
