Removed it on 1st October given that it's the renewal date for my car anyway so getting rid of the disc made more sense than keeping an out-of-date one on the windscreen...

I have left mine in. I quite like them, and they cost me enough.

Yeah, sorry, that's what I meant. Some of the companies who supply them will rubber stamp the issue date for the date of registration, on a disk "running" to a year later.

I just like the idea of being reported by any local busy-bodies for being 18 / 20 years out of tax

That does not make any sense, if the changeover had happened from April 2014, you would not have been issued with a disc starting then.

You could not have had a tax disc sent starting from the 1st Nov 2014 as they ceased to be issued from 1st Oct. 2014, see post #42 above.

I took mine out when the old one finally expired at the end of January.
