From my initial post in March - and as promised, an update about Zog Energy.
Brilliant. Not a hitch so far. Regular monthly billing from them, and easy to contact.
(Apologies for a boring update, but hey, we see so many negative posts here than positive ones ... :cool:0 -
I filled in the Zog application form online yesterday. Immediately received a welcome email & just 10 mins later an email request for my MRPN number. I knew this would be requested because SP had also asked for this 3 years ago. I supplied this by email at 17.50. This was acknowledged by email at 9.26 this morning.
Before I decided to switch to Zog I'd exchange a couple of emails with a few questions which were answered almost immediately. The 1st email I'd sent them was on August Bank holiday Monday. I hadn't expected an answer until Tuesday, but no I received the reply 2 hrs later on the same day.
If they keep this they keep this up I shall be a very happy bunny. I cannot fault them so far.0 -
I see Zog revised their tariffs this week.
Minor tweaking to their Mercury 12 tariff, but should be slightly cheaper for most.
But interestingly they have now launched Saturn 12. A fixed 12 month contract with no early exit fees. Unit prices are less than Mercury 12, but standing charges are about double (so about another £30 roughly equating to the early exit fee for Mercury 12 if you were to stay all year)
But what this tariff may be useful for, other than really high users who can take advantage of the lower unit rates, are those users that only use gas in the winter. They can move to someone like Ebico for the summer months when they use no gas (and will pay no standing charges with Ebico) and opt for Zog during the winter when they do use the gas.
An interesting addition to their range of tariffs.0 -
My daughter is on an old Mercury 12 and was thinking of changing as the saving is about double the exit fee. This new Saturn is only £6 dearer than the new Mercury 12 for her so may be worth it as it will keep her options open for another move later.0

Indeed, there really is no excuse for customers being on Zog's expensive variable tariff (Juniper) now that they have introduced Saturn 12, but customers will need to request this.0

Thanks for the heads up.
The new Saturn tariff would cost me £9 more than I pay now with Zog.
The new Mercury prices would save me £24, sadly not enough to overcome the £30 exit fees of my current Mercury tariff.
Oh well, maybe the prices will drop further at some point.0 -
In case Zog customers have not spotted this. They have now reduced their prices twice so far this month.
Firstly on the 5th November & yet again today the 17th. Obviously they are trying to remain the cheapest gas supplier out there.
It's now very clear that there's a Gas tariff price war going on.............0 -

Thanks for the heads up.....I had checked CEC earlier this morning when the new prices weren't showing and I so nearly pulled the trigger on a move to Better Energy!
So glad I didn't do the dirty deed and now my switch from Mercury 12 to Saturn 12 has been requested and is under way.0 -
For me Saturn & Mercury are the same price with a saving of £63 on my current rate (less £30 charge), my daughter will be cheaper with Saturn saving £124 (less £30). Quite an amazing saving since we fixed in May.0

I fixed with them in May, but with my usage and region it is a £28 saving on Mercury and a £20 saving on Saturn. Still not enough to cover my £30 exit, but it is getting closer!
I just wish they would waive the exit penalty for an internal switch, or at least lower it!
Daligas is still the cheapest for my region and usage (£37 saving), they wont deal with IGT customers so they are a no-go.0
