Been with ZOG a couple of years. The switch was seemless. Pricing very competitive. However, accounting and direct debit estimates have been poor. I spoke to ZOG and the call turned into a bit of an argument. I did renew with them but that call also went poorly. I stayed with them because of price. I do understand the good feedback from others, but I have a thing about actual readings being used to inform the billing (more in real time) than estimates being made that are clearly wrong as they exceed the actual reading even a couple of months later. Drastic increase in direct debit amount to recover a debit on my account that exists partly due to the summer being VERY low gas usage for me (solar panels heat my water in summer and no heating used of course) and also because my consumption has gone up a bit over the last couple of years. But I think the way they estimated the annual figure was and extrapolation of the colder months leading to a significant over-estimate of annual usage. So I expect there will now be significant over-recovery by ZOG. All a bit messy. I do understand this is a case of "computer says no" but I am considering switching to Ebico. I'm not a high user and their tariff is about the same for me and I can have quarterly direct debit based on actual readings, which for me if paradise. The ZOG accounting has been the most uncomfortable for me of any energy supplier I've used and I've switched a lot. Please note that my issues are "narrow" and don't contradict other's liking of the slick and efficient implementation of switches by ZOG. I just really don't like the way they've been running the direct debit and don't seem to take into account actual readings sufficiently. I do suspect all suppliers like the account in credit so we are banking with them and not the other way around, but that means the smoothing principle of monthly direct debit has a additional issue of over recovery by the supplier and having to get the excess back at the end of a contract. My perspective is that this is all messy and that all suppliers should be contractually obliged to refund any excess cash within 30 days of ceasing supply (or 60 days or whatever).

I have had two contracts with Zog: the latest has run for 15 months. I provide them with a meter reading on the last day of each month and this is always validated and used for billing. I agree though that their estimates of annual consumption are way out. When I checked at the end of last month, the Annual Quantity on my bill was 10kWhs out! As far as I am concerned, there isn’t much not to like but I accept that everyone’s experience isn’t the same.

My 11 months was hassle free. I basically set my own direct debits as I found that I was using more than the previous year, due to the colder than normal winter and having a gas cooker installed. I emailed them and asked to set it to a figure my spreadsheet had worked out.

I was £7.32 in credit after my 11 months, which was credited within a week.

We have found the same with Zog. Been with them for over 2 years now for Gas. The bills have always been based on our readings provided on the last day of every month. If we have noticed that the DD amount is too high or too low we have just contacted them and within a couple of hours (sometimes minutes) they have replied confirming the change to what we calculated .

Sadly, I have had to leave Zog due to a house move. I will return once my Deemed Supplier has sorted out the registration of my new meters.

I gave Zog a closing reading for gas this morning. My Final Bill was e-mailed to me at 3.25pm. Stunning customer service.

I've been with Zog for the last 2 years, and decided to stay with them for a further two with a 24 month fix.

I'm a low user, so I like to keep the standing charge down, I could probably save a few pennies going to other providers, but I'm such a low user I'd be looking at pennies over the course of the year, as no gas tends to be used from March until mid-November.

No complaints, I think this will be longest I've been with any supplier for a while.
  • Just wanted to add my progress log to this thread.
On 4/11/18 I started a switch to Zog for gas only. (switching from First Utility, being a refugee from Usio).
Tariff Saturn 24 v6 (24 months fixed, no exit fees).
I was given a start date of 26/11/18. I will update this thread with progress.

Still with Zog here, no problems at all. Like others, submit readings end of the month when i can.

Anyone know any update on supplying Electricity? don't see any announcements on the site or any tarrifs yet.

My 2 year fixed ends feb or march next year so would really like to move electricity to them, if competitive.

Electricity - if Zog has any sense they will not enter the electricity market until the present market volatility has settled. Remember, all suppliers have to set SVTs below the default tariff cap that comes into force in January.
