  • Good morning friends,

Well tomorrow sees us getting back to normal, DD back at school nursery and DS has two days booked in at nursery, so I can get on top of the chaos that half term has created in our house!

I have a lot to do, including housework, paid work and number crunching. I also need to update the Christmas lists (I think we have most of the pressies now, phew).

DS slept for 12 hours solid last night so I feel more human today. Isn't sleep amazing! Right, cuppa time then off to strip the bed. We have another Air BNB guest all week arriving tomorrow so I need to prepare his room.

    Best wishes, ATB xx
    MFW :)

Fab news re AirBnB. brill :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
  • Hello friends, :)

Naughty diarist checking in, 4 days without an update, most unlike me! A few bits to report:
    • Signature updated to show current balance. This will remain as is (bar our usual 1st December payment) until the New Year. We haven't met our challenge by around £800, purely by choice. Something was niggling at me, telling me not to put all the last of our spare cash on the mortgage, so its tucked away in savings instead.
    • Work has picked up on both sides :)
    • The plan now is to super stash into the savings pot like a woman possessed until January when our new OP limit kicks in.
    • We have had Air BnB guests for almost three weeks solid now. Our current guest leaves tomorrow, is back on Monday, then we have different guests booked in for the next two weekends. I cannot believe how much success we are having with it.
    • I have some bits to put on fleabay but am struggling to be arrissed to do it....
    • We have paid off over £26k on our mortgage in the last 9 months :):):):):)
So what next for us? Well I, ATB, hereby pledge that by 1.12.16 we will be in the five figures (well, in the sense of mortgage versus savings, we will still have to dratted 10% cap) until April 2017.

Thank you to all of you that have read, cheered me along, consoled me and made me laugh and cry in 2015, you are all wonderful and I feel privileged to know such lovely people online xx

Amazing! And the fact that you've got air bnb peeps returning speaks volumes - your overpayment is already through the roof, you're going to be mortgage free in no time :j:j:j

  • Wow! That's some awesome OPing! :T :T :T

Fantastic to hear the Air BnB is going so well. :) You'll be into the five figures in no time, I don't doubt it. :j
a penny picker upper. MFW approx 78% to go | FIRE 3 years worth (30% savings rate: now aiming for 40%!) | Normality is a paved road; it's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it | Whatever you're meant to do, do it now. The conditions are always impossible | The only thing you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library
  • Fantastic - well done!!
    Very inspiring!

£26k in 9 months is mindblowing :O Really well done!

You've inspired me to take a look at Air Bnb as I've just realised my flat is going to be empty for nearly 2 weeks over Christmas and the New Year! I just need to convince the OH first that it's a good idea...
