Hi ATB,
you and Jimlad inspired us to try airbnb for our top floor. we're not as busy as you but have now covered our outlay for the room. 4 bookings last month and 4 this. We went a bit mad with new electricals. We've had a lodger in the past in our basement but we need to upgrade damp course.

Hello friends,
I have been a very bad diarist this week! DS is really teethy, i have a bad cold and it's just generally been a bit of an odd one. The non stop rain hasn't helped!
On the money front, I've just shuffled £1000 to the savings potwhich is growing nicely. My plan is to write to our mortgage provider in the new year to get exact confirmation in writing of the amount we can OP by next year, then there is no room for error on my part.
I have also successfully applied for a Post Office cc - 0% on spending for 27 months. The limit is high enough to pay my January tax bill and, even factoring in the 1.5% card fee HMRC charge for paying by CC, the interest I will save by OPing that money onto the mortgage far outweighs the fee. There is a really good article on this site on this topic.
We have an Air BnB guest tonight and tomorrow, a new lady who seems nice enough. Our 'regular' chap is back for one night next week, then so far we have nothing else until month end. But that could all change
Moneyfordreams- I'm really chuffed for you honey that's great news.
Well I'll say cheery bye and enjoy your weekends folks xxMFW

Hope you are feeling a little better this morning. Having a cold and sleepless nights with a teething child is not a good combo
I remember those days very well. Great news on the savings pot! Have just jiggled a little money around as came in under budget on our food budget in October, and then forgot to move it to the OP pot. Too many things going on in life - Need to make a list of my lists at the moment. Hope next week is better for you

Hi Chumpy, thank you for popping in and for your lovely comments. Your figures are awesome, well done you!
Well our Air BnB guest has gone, and payout has been issued so that's £50 moved to the savings pot
The weather here is the pits this weekend. DH is poorly, I am full of cold and the kids are climbing the walls. I anticipate being up late tonight finishing the paid stuff as there is little chance of it happening today!
Off to make a cuppa and load the TD again. Best wishes all, ATB xxMFW

Hello friends,
Very bad diarist checking in! In my defence, it's been a fairly odd few days. My cold turned really quite awful, I have had migraines and dizzy spells with it, not good when looking after two small children
DH also has an infected root in his tooth, as well as an another infection, so is on two lots of antibiotics (when the flip did prescriptions get so pricey!!). His dental work is booked in for next week and is costing us £950 :eek: it needs doing but.... Gahhhh.
Anyway, in brighter news the savings pot is at £2800 and I'm aiming to be at £5k by Christmas :xmastree::santa2: must must must list some bits on eBay this weekend, and do some serious financial planning for next year. I need to write down in black and white exactly where the £50k we are going to OP is going to come from:)
Best wishes all, ATB xxMFW

You poor things, ATB, thats a bad week. Take care of yourself with that cold - an astonishing number of people had pneumonia last year, I've never known so many. Hope you're all sleeping well and recovering.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Feeling you pain ATB (though not the costly teeth bill). DS2 has been rotten ill this week, and i've had this ridiculous headache and sore throat all week. Paracetamol barely touches either of them and its made it a long long week in work! 9pm in bed fast asleep for me the last 2 nights!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0

Fingers crossed you have a good sleep tonight and wake up feeling back to normal.

Hope you are feeling much better today.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0
