Look forward to tomorrow and hope plan is coming together.
And we can always help with planning here if you need us all too x
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
  • Good morning friends,

Well I am back and a lot brighter than I was a week ago. It really has been a horrid few days. Fortunately DHs business bank has applied an overdraft to his account, something we have never had before in all the years he has been trading, which should see us through in the short term until we get paid by some other clients.

The impact on our personal finances has been hard, and it has scared me. Turns out that when the !!!! hits the fan, neither of us were happy to ask family for help - we are just too proud. So from here on in, all efforts are going towards stashing money in our savings. No where near as satisfying as OPing, but once we are back on track we can use some of the savings to make a bumper OP to keep us on track, hopefully in the New Year.

We are made of very resilient stuff, and this setback is just that, a setback but no way has it thrown us off our MFW path. We just have a different strategy now, that's all :):):)

So, I hope you will still have me and my wafflings on here even though I'm not making regular OPs just yet ;):) I will use this diary to report my daily small successes and keep up with you lovely lot

Love and best wishes to you all, thank you for your support, ATB xx:):)
    MFW :)

  • Morning ATB,
So glad to hear from you. Very happy that you have put everything to perspective and now have a strategy in place. Your MFW ways will help even more in the months to come. Once you have set up your EF you will be back to OP in no time. Perhaps you could OP £1 a week or something similar as a token and will make you feel like you are still doing something towards OP. I appreciate if its not that easy right now but maybe in a few weeks time?

Hugs as always Diamonds xx :)

Having an EF is, I think vital, especially when running own business. I'm shortly going to use mine up to finish OP off - but - rebuilding it will then be a priority.
I've lowered credit limits to a couple of customers after a scare last year - and - I now enforce credit limits rather than my previous sloppy attitude.
    Good luck with all :)

Hi ATB, recently found your diary and have really enjoyed reading it. My youngest is off to nursery this year too, time really flies. You have done incredibly well with your OP's and I'm sorry to hear of the recent business setback.

Keep posting, you are an inspiration :)

Just found your diary. We too have a mortgage of 171k. Wife has left work and I'm self employed with one son. Looking to pay ours off, though instead of overpaying, we're fixed for the next two years so we're saving all our money to pay as much off as we can in two years time! I'd like to be mortgage free asap!
