Bedding once a week, curtains every 6 months, towels and clothes every use except jumpers, occasionally jeans and coats. Coats washed at least once a month.

I use an anti-bacterial with sporicide for deep cleaning and aldis kitchen and bathroom spray for general daily cleaning. I also use dettol surface cleanser, anti bac soap and wipes, and napisan or dettol laundry sanitiser.

    Umm. Xxx

Our curtains never get washed, they are expensive, lined, interlined and weighted and some have special pleating. I use the hotel method of shaking and vacuuming and occasionally run the steam cleaner over them.

But bedding once a week - no bacterial cleaners, use ordinary soap powder and a 60 degree wash.
Bras every couple of days, knickers every day....again hot wash.
Towels every couple of days and again a hot wash.
Normal clothing evey couple of days unless I spill or splash something...I don't work so don't have to have a clean top every day. Everything gets a 40 degree wash unless it's wool then it gets a wool wash.

Hard floors steam cleaned every week, sometimes less often, carpets get steam cleaned every couple of months, they are cream and the steam cleaner freshens them up.

    Bed Linen - weekly
    PJ's - twice a week
Bathroom towels - changed every 2/3days - washed weekly
    Kitchen towels - daily
Bathroom sinks and loos - daily
    Underwear - daily
Tops & T-shirts - usually after 2 wears but aired in between wears
Trousers & Jeans - as required probably 3/4 wears

Apart from tops and t shirts (wear them once, then in the wash) I'm the same. There's only two of us in the house, but my washing machine is on daily!! To be fair, I do a lot of my baby grandson's washing, and we all know how much washing they make, but even so.....? I'm sure we have a washing fairy that brings it in whilst I'm not looking!

I think with bedlinen, it depends what, if anything, you wear in bed. We change the bedlinen weekly, but we both sleep "as nature intended".

Towels - bath towels average once a week, hand towels probably twice a week; undies daily (can't even think of not having clean undies every day); top clothes last 2 days for me, Mr LW likes a clean shirt every day for the office.

No anti-bacterial washing stuff here, and I use non-bio powder (bio makes my skin itch).

I wash bedlinen at 30 because the batik set I bought in 2007 which is still in lovely condition can't be washed any hotter than that, and if I'm washing one set at that temperature, why not all of it?

Very interesting to see what everyone else does, and that I'm not alone in refusing to wash clothes that I've only worn once :)

I aim to wash my bedsheets every 2 weeks, but it's often closer to 3 weeks...................Washing really does wear out bras so I see it as extending their lifetime to wash them less!..............................As long as your hands and private areas are clean, the rest of you will be fine for a few days without a wash!

    I'm with you :)
2 weeks for bedding ideally, but it doesn't always happen :D
2 weeks is what I was taught in domestic science class at school.

When I take off outer clothes (tops, bottoms, jumpers etc), I only put them in the wash if they either look or smell grubby, if they're clean enough to be worn again, I have a special drawer that I put this stuff in and go to it first when getting dressed so that the stuff gets worn until it needs washing. I find my clothes last much longer this way.

With bras, I have my everyday T-shirt type bras and I rotate 2 for a week or so before washing. Then I have a few 'posh' bras that I wear when I'm going out, these only get worn for a few hours so they go in the special drawer and get worn again a few times. I change knickers and socks/tights everyday.

I don't wear jeans, but husband wears one pair all day every day (to work too) for a week and then they get washed.

Coats & jackets get washed once a year - the winter stuff in the spring before storing away etc.

I have a 'big pampering bath' once a week (my time! :) ), around two quick showers a week on top of that (usually if I'm going out in the evening) and just a sink wash (or 'Face, Feet and Forks' as my nan used to say :D) every day.

My hair is coloured (and therefore dry) so I only wash it once a week, or twice if it gets specially dirty or I'm going out in the evening.

I don't use ant anti-bac soap - the ingredients used to make ordinary soap are naturally anti-bacterial anyway so I see that as a big con. I keep a bottle of zo-flora handy for when there's a definite need for extra disinfecting (not often).

Me and husband have a bath towel each which stay on the radiator rack in the bathroom for around a week or so before being swapped - as someone else said, you only use them when you're the cleanest you're ever going to be - they get wet, not dirty.

People have actually commented on how seldom either myself or husband get ill and, if you believe that article, I should stink to high heaven!
    Um.... I'm pretty sure I don't........ ;)

Actually, on a second reading, that article seems like just a series of plugs for expensive cleaning products, some complete with plugs for the retailers that sell them.....
Antibacterial wipes, liquid detergent, specialist anti-allergy pillow case protectors, upholstery shampoo, a fabric freshener costing £16 a bottle!!!!!, a specialist bra soak product, a dog shampoo.

Magazines get free stuff sent to them all the time on the understanding that the product or retailer will be mentioned in an article which are sometimes written just for that purpose - looks like a case of that to me.
Don’t try to keep up with the Jones’s. They are broke!

    [QUOTE=rufydoofyM;67665310

I certainly do not wash my bra every 2 days and bedding stays on the bed up to 4 weeks (occasionally longer when I forget) depending on the time of year.
What do you think, am I manky or not ?
How often do you clean, change or wash stuff ?[/QUOTE]

yes I do think that is manky and you did ask

My bedding gets a 60 degree wash weekly and bras every single use. I don`t need to do any sniff tests as bacteria does not get a chance to grow on my bras or tops. It is just basic hygiene

I have never used anti bac stuff, only soap and water and eco balls

My wife used to change her bedding once a month abd it made the whole house smell, plus remember with the sniff test other people can smell your body odor before you can.

    All bedding once a week
    Towels washed after two uses
    Hand towels/tea towels changed daily
    Underwear/socks/tops clean daily
    Jumpers/trousers worn twice

Where the house is concerned we steam most things as its cheap, easy and our home doesn't smell of artificial scents, the only exception is washing powder, washing up liquid and bleach for the toilets.

I have a colleague who wears the same shirt two days in a row so he always smells of BO on the second wear, I did take him aside one day, now he wears the dirty shirt witb copious amounts of lynx in attempt to mask his BO, lovely sharing an office with him.

    Bed linen = weekly
Towels - Hand = daily and bath towels every other use. Big weekly load in the machine on just towels every five days.
Underwear = daily.. Bras I have two sets, one the older ones which I use for house work, horses, car cleaning etc, they get washed every day. My nice newer ones I wash those by hand every couple of uses.
Jeans and things depending on how much they have been used. I have my decent stuff for out and about in which does not washed every time, but my general chores stuff goes in the basket regardless after each use.
Coats, jackets scarves, gloves etc, they get washed in the summer and line dried then put away ready for winter.

Nothing like using good old powered ariel washing powder to do the job.
Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money :D

    Bedding...once every week or two

Bath towels..every two weeks (BUT...I change the towels more often! I have loads of towels ...different one for body, hands, face, hair....and will change this as needed then do a 'big' towel wash)

    Undies/socks ....changed every day

Bra...don't currently wear one, when I did they would be changed daily (I have a skin condition that makes bras REALLY uncomfortable and also can't get them to fit - and can't afford to have them specially made!)

PJs...changed once or twice a week.

    Other clothes....as needed....some will last a day...others more often

I also have adult bibs which are changed as necessary, washed when I am running low!

Coats et.c washed once before being put away at the end of the season.

Bath Mat once every few months -= more if it needs it.

Most stuff gets washed at 40 with Aerial liquid. And then tumble dried. (No facilities here for line drying)

OK.. Pants \socks fresh every day. Bras are aired when taken off and rotated, washed every three weeks ish. Pj's twice a week, trousers\ jeans 10 days \2 weeks, T-shirt, shirts etc after 2 wears cardigans \jumpers as needed.

Hand towels once a week more if needed, bath towels one a week (have one each), fresh tea towel each day bedding once a fortnight in winter once a week in summer.

Maybe a bit Ott but I'm happy with it. No tumble dryer though so line dry only as right pain in this weather!
