Still not convinced by the PCoJ arguments. Both because of the detail in the charging guidelines, and also because the same logic would apply to parking in front of a camera van, but PCoJ does not seem to be being charged in those cases.

If someone covered up their plates to conceal speeding offences, or switched plates after the event, then it would be PCOJ. Not sure why you think covering the camera would be any different?

Actually, I'm not sure you can commit PCOJ for a future offence.

At the time the camera is covered up you're not attempting to pervert the course of justice in relation to any particular offence because your actions won't affect the speeders that the camera has already caught.

Setting fire to a speed camera would definitely be PCOJ but would likely charged as arson.

I tend to agree with Mattye.

I believe you can only pervert a course of justice if a deed has occurred that may be subject to justice, ie a pathway has commenced from the suspected commission of a deed to the application of justice to that deed.

I agree. You're misunderstanding what I'm saying but perhaps im not explaining it well.

It would be difficult if not impossible to prove that people have sped past the camera if officers only arrive AFTER the speeding has taken place.

Eg: bag is put on the camera at midnight, speeders go past at 04:00 and officers arrive at 08:00. How would they know about the 04:00 speeders? Would have to be another witness, or another camera that filmed the event.

Sure, they won't know about the 0400 speeders. But if they wait for a few minutes there will be some more along!

It is surprising what you can find about a person, once you know their name. That really doesn't bother me. You may call it naive. I call it personal freedom.

But the forum rules do specify that you shouldn't post another person's identity.

You wouldn't choose to break forum rules would you? ;)
