Just checking. Doesn't work via ethernet cable after hub and laptop switched off/on?
    1. all lights ok on hub?
    2. try internet with another device e.g. smartphone, computer etc.

Perhaps easier if you get your landlord baclk :-) What OS? Can you find Netowrk Conenctions? (with ethernet cable plugged in)
EDIT: type ncpa.cpl in the search box

EDIT2: right-mouse click Location Area Connection and select Diagnose

Hmm yes he's in Portsmouth unfortunately. In network connection it says cable unplugged and wifi on.

Laptop was asleep, and when i woke it up, homepage was showing but now back to nothing loading.

Is the cable connected both ends? Is the cable broken? Did it work before? Could still try right-click then Diagnose
AND try right-click disable then right-click enable

Try the cable in a different port on the hub (how many ports are there?). Do you have an ethernet cable NOW or not?
