AQA successful applicants??

I got that question! i had great fun working it out!

I've never done a job like this before but i've been looking for one ever since i heard of them!
The only problem i have is that i applied as an Irish applicant because i was living with my sister in Cork in Ireland at the time, but now i'm back in England i'm worried i won't get the job as they aren't taking on UK applicants! worried am i!
But the money should be good if i do! i reckon i could get around 5 an hour at least which will help me at uni! You should be able to make a mint with the conversion rate! Almost $15 an hour if you're as quick as you say you are! That'd be a nice change for you and your family!
Fingers crossed eh?!

Hmmm I don't know if your change in residency would disqualify you or not. I don't know if it's solely based on your residence at time of application, or what. Hopefully we'll both be accepted without any problems!
I've thought of that $15/hour figure and it obviously is fantastic. But realistically, I probably won't make quite that much with AQA even though it'll be considerably more than I'm currently making. I am so paranoid at not sounding "British" enough that I spend more time on their questions than I would with my American companies. In other words, it slows me down a lot lol.
But I know that I only need to answer about 7 questions an hour to make the same amount with AQA that I'm making with my current companies. I think I'll probably be able to answer more than that, especially as I become more familiar with British "stuff." I'm hoping to make at least $10/hour & then increase that as my response times improve.
I hope that they see my experience in this field and are willing to accept me. I'm very good at what I do, & would love to "lend my talent" to AQA.
But once again, we could both have a very long wait before we know!
(As someone with British experience, do I sound British at all? I know that in America, I'm considered very formal, especially in writing.)0 -
That's true! and it's the waiting that's the pain! ah well!
I don't think you have any problem with sounding 'British' at all! You've got no noticable american sentence structuring and grammar, i guess the only thing you have to watch out for is spelling really!
I dont think you've got anything to worry about!
$10 an hour is good anyway right?! better than $3 odd that you're getting now!
is this your sole income or do you have another job?0 -
angelheart83, I had no idea you weren't British until you said so! Hope you succeed with AQA. If you follow the rules they're great to work for. Good luck!0

Honestly, I make half my income & get the other half from my son's SSI (child disabililty payments). This has made it possible to supervise his homebased autism therapy. They won't provide homebased therapy unless a parent is home to supervise, & homebased therapy is supposed to be the best for autistic kids. Having me with him throughout the day is also supposed to help him emotionally & mentally, as autistic children thrive this way. In fact, I recently went on a trip & couldn't take him with me, & he has "regressed" & isn't as affectionate with me as he used to be. If I'm hired by AQA, it will allow me to continue doing what I'm doing for him & have an even higher income!
Hornetgirl, you have made me feel much more at ease with applying for a British company! I really hope that I can "fit in" & that I use the proper words/terms/etc. Of course, I have to be accepted first!
I'm so nervous! I've read that they only accept 1 in 10 applicants. I bet they have many applicants & only a few vacant slots.
I've read conflicting reports on this forum, so maybe someone can clear it up. If one is rejected, can they reapply right away? I've heard there's a rule where you have to wait a certain length of time before reapplying, but it seems as if that rule is not enforced. Just in case I'm one of the 9 out of 10 applicants that are rejected, I'd like to know if I can have another go right away lol. Although it would be great to be accepted on my first attempt!
Well I'm glad that I haven't confused you with my language lol. Once again, it's nice to know that I don't automatically stand out! In person, I have a very noticeable "Southern" accent (I live in the state of North Carolina in the US)!0 -
It's been almost a week now since I sent in my test. I'm even more nervous! This job would make such a positive difference for my family. I really hope that I'm accepted on the first try, & that I'm notified soon!0

Hi Angel!
If it's any consolation, i've not heard anything back either! what takes them so long i do not know! Fingers still crossed!0 -
I keep on going through my test answers LOL. Are you doing the same thing with your own?
I believe my spelling & grammar were correct & I always stayed within the character limits. Looking back, I wish that I'd put in a few extra characters on a few of them. There was 1 question that took me 15 minutes to research & I actually ended up calling a company to find out the answer. When I wrote the response, it was only 126 characters. I gave the answer & added some extra information, but it only came to 126 characters. Having already spent 15 minutes, I just wanted to move on to the next question, you know? I know that this is above the minimum requirement, so hopefully it will be okay...but I still feel guilty about not adding even more, now that I look back on it!
This wait is agonising! Hopefully we'll both hear back soon, & we'll both be accepted!0 -
Angel, are you the one who so kindly referred me to check out AQA from the ChaCha boards? Did you hear if you were accepted yet? It took over a month, but Rowina finally sent me an application packet that I sent back straight away. It's been a week, and I am anxiously awaiting the verdict! I don't have a degree, either, but I did study for 2 years in Korea and taught ESL while I was there. I also teach piano and put down a mother of a student as a reference. Won't she be surprised if someone with a British accent calls her!
I wonder how long I should wait before I write and check on the application? I don't think I can continue to work steadily for ChaCha at the current payrate there- it is just too dismal. I really hope AQA accepts me! :eek:0 -
White...Aaawww I thought I replied to you on here...maybe my post didn't go through.

I've messaged you about 3 times on the "other forum" though!
It's been basically a week since I sent in my application & I just sent a chaser email to make sure it even got there in the first place. It's currently midnight in London...maybe I'll have something from Rowina by the time I wake up here in the US tomorrow though! lol0
