As I posted earlier in this thread, I passed my test 2 weeks ago but STILL ahve not had my induction email! I emailed my contract back 2 weeks ago Monday, and have emailed Rowina twice since then and not had a reply to any email! What should I do? I don't want to pester and risk annoying them but also am desperately in need of starting this job.

Same here. I'm dead keen to get started. I posted my contract back, and emailed after a week. I got a reply stating that it had not arrived, and that I would be notified when it was. I'm going to scan and email it tomorrow and see what happens.

  • God I love this site! As a penniless first time buyer, I was looking for something that I could do from home that would help me save up a wee deposit. I'd heard some real horror stories about dodgy 'work from home' schemes and didn't honestly think there would be anything suitable...until I wandered onto the forum one day and spotted the AQA threads. I've now been accepted and hope to get started this coming week - woohoo!

I'm a real sad case when it comes to facts, figures and trivia so this sort of thing is right up my street. Just gonna have to be careful and find out all about the self-employed/tax related stuff so that I don't come a cropper further down the line....

Is it a good rule of thumb to save away around 22% of earnings?

If you're a higher rate taxpayer then squirrel away 40%, otherwise you'll be fine with 22%. Remember you do need to register as self-employed even if you already work as an employee (see first post on board).
  • Thanks for everyone's help and advice on this subject - I phoned AQA on Thursday having not heard from them - I got an email back on Friday saying I have been accepted. Brilliant news!

FYI - I sent my test back on the Thursday, and got the email the following Friday - just in case anyone is interested in timescales.

I am going to scan my contract and email it back today. Will keep popl posted as to how I get on witgh sorting out an induction, as it sounds like it is a bit hit and miss at the moment.

Again - Thanks to everyone for their constant help and advice.

    Hi

People have been using Microsoft Open Office. If you check through the messages you will find the link.

    Good luck with it.

What happens if you don't email the test back within 48 hours? We've had MAJOR problems with our broadband which means that I only started my test today and I received it on the 19th November...

    Have I messed up?

OpenOffice has no association with Microsoft.

I am not sure, but to be honest, they are a very lovely bunch at AQA and if you comment on the problems you have had when you email your test through it might help.

They are still advertising so obviously still in need of researchers.

I am pleased to say that my husband has been accpeted, of course subject to the induction but fingers crossed. :j
