Who have people put for references that don't have employment history?

I emailed and got an answer virtually straight back that said you could just use character references and that would be fine.

So I just gave the details of my references and added on an extra bit about being informed that these references would be ok.

Just got my first review back and I passed- woohoo!! Can get crackig now on some serious money before christmas. ANyone who is already a researcher, is it easy enough to do the tax forms? I already have another job so don't want to be taxed more on that as well.

You can phoen em or someone posted a link online to fill the form out

Also go to the IBR researchers documents section and there is a tax form on there that works out how much tax you need to put away (22%) from what you have earned (if this is a 2nd job of course)

We were paid on Nov 6th. December payday hasn't been announced yet.

Thanks for that. I only joined on the 2nd so will have to wait until December now. Up to £100 already and loving it.

I'd like to say a big THANKYOU to Martin and MSE for telling me about AQA. I would never have heard of them and it fits in so well with my lifestyle being able to do it whenever I want.

  • How frustrating - it looks liek I missed the boat with my application...

I sent my completed form in last Thursday (The 15th) and haven't heard anything back. Now there are no vacancies on the website for England, so i assume I am out of luck.

Has anyone ever phoned Rowina direct? Is it worth me giving her a call to confirm exactly what is going on?

  • Their recruitment status in the UK seems to change regularly - occasionally several times a day! Just keep an eye out. It may be that they have a lot of applications (more people checking the website with the release of their new book, so more applications), so have just closed recruitment while they process those applications (i.e. you may still get a response).

Might be worth emailing just to see if they received your application.

As I posted earlier in this thread, I passed my test 2 weeks ago but STILL ahve not had my induction email! I emailed my contract back 2 weeks ago Monday, and have emailed Rowina twice since then and not had a reply to any email! What should I do? I don't want to pester and risk annoying them but also am desperately in need of starting this job.

If you got the test then you applied in time, as long as you sent it back within 48 hours then you haven't missed the deadline. They've take the vacancies off of the website so people don't keep emailing them for application forms coz she's just sent a load out. If you've heard nothing back by now then it's probably not because you didn't get it in in time!

You need to contact your senior researcher, have you been told who that is?

  • Have just been accepted on my second attempt. Took three working days to hear the first time. I only sent my test back yesterday and was accepted today - yaay! Reading through all the info and looking forward to the intro.

Everything is happening very quickly and their response time is excellent. If anyone has applied and not heard back, then it might be a good idea to check your trash folder and send yourself a test email.
